Options when tinting taillights....

I own a 96 I30 and have wanted to tint my taillights for a while now. I was informed that it's not really possible to apply tint film to the tails because it would come off very easily, and it would bubble like crazy. I called around and I was told about some "sprayable exterior night shade" stuff. You can spray it on like spray paint, but the only thing is that you can't remove it after you applied it. If I for some reason need to remove it, I don't want to have to buy new taillights.

Are there any other options for tinting my tails? Preferably something that is removeable.

I have Nite Shades on my Mustang's third brake light. It's held up very well for about 2 or 3 years now. My only complaint - it's got a semi-gloss to dull finish. It seems like it would scratch as easily as regular paint, and I would think you could use paint thinner to remove it probably...

You say it would scratch as easily as paint- are there any scratches on yours? Has anybody been able to remove the stuff after you applied it?

No, there are no scratches on mine. But the only thing that ever goes near my third brake light (that I know of) is my wash mit and towel... I could be wrong tho - in any case, it isn't scratched...
