I just got through reading the post from someone from our board at Club GP and am disappointed to see such a post here.

I can't put out the fire that started but can at least state that many of us others don't agree with it being done.

Both groups are large and can only police themselves so far.

Facts or not real or BS, I don't care. @#it happens and trolls are everywhere. It angers me to see bee-hives shaken like that and am sure he got what he wanted.

Anyway, peace here as I'm on to learn more about the next generation Maxima and have fun. IMO Our two cars serve as good comparisons and regardless of what the various opinions are I think both are fine rides.

Welcome. I hope to see you here and over at the GP forums. My screen name over there is MaddMax and I've been posting there for about 2 years.

Oh yeah....I know MaddMax

You were the first one I thought of when I read that post. You're our resident advocate for the Maxima's and here someone goes and shakes the bees in your home next.

Oh well. Here to learn as I've posted over at Club GP, I'm due for a new car and although I love my GP new stuff is coming from everywhere and I'm really hoping the new GP is better but well.....who knows now.

Take Care

OOn behalf of the .org, Welcome Tim. I hope you learn as much info from here as i have.

I do agree, yes, our cars are good to comapare against each other. Yes, there are fast maximas and fast GTPs. I personally wanted a GTP, just couldnt afford insurance on it. There will always be those morons out there who like to flame but we try to ignore. Maybe we will learn some GTP info from you.

Well, since Ive been through a 3 or 4 page thread with you guys before on the GTP vs. Max issue I wont say much other than that dude who posted that was obviously bored and looking to cause ****. I mean how can you take a guy seriously when he's bragging that a modded GTP can take a Max? Who doesn't know that will happen? I dont post anywhere anymore when I beat Maxima's, I will only post if its a good race (which it usually isn't) or I lose to one (which hasn't happened yet). <----Dont take that as a flame, it's just my reality. I will probably run into a Max someday that will hand me my ***, and I will smile and give him a thumbs up.

Later,

I too come in peace. I was torn between Jap and GM but since I had a 96 GP that went 90K with only needing the usual brakes and oil and the new one had the S/C I just had to have one.

I am Cecil County Dragway just about every week if some one wants to hook up (pun intended) and go racing.

I live about 30 minutes from E-Town but I dont like to run there. Cecil is a fast track at night gotta love track bite

i gotta say ...my sister use to have a grand prix 90 se...it was sweet ,it had button controls for the radio on the steering wheel,it was pretty fast i think it was a 3.0 or 3.1 v6 ,the best thing i liked about it was that it had electronic seats that could raise left and right leg seperately.the part of the seat where your back touches had 3 coushions that would push in n out coushions to your lower ,middle, upper back the head rest was adjustuble and it could squeeze or open the side of the seat...bucket seats leather.....it was sweet

Nice car and website. You must have a lot of money in your car. I almost traded in for 2000 GTP. I was getting tired of getting my a$$ kicked at the track. I got a great deal with 0% financing for 60 months. One thing that held me back was reliability reports and the torque steer. I have a friend with '97 SE who's had a lot of problems. (mostly small, nothing major, like sunroof leaking, window motors breaking, and the radio had to be replaced twice) During the test drive, The torque steer was massive when the boost came on. I would have to counter-steer to control the car. Is your's like that? Do you get used to it?

Hey **** Finger, I'm about 30 minutes away from Cecil County Dragway. For those of you who do not know where this is, it is located near Rising Sun Maryland, which is right on the edge of Pennsylvania and Delaware. I was thinking about going up there tonight (3/2/01) being how it is the first opening of this season, but this afternoon I saw dragsters and ricers with one headlight EVERYWHERE in Bel Air Maryland alone, i figured that everybody and their mom and sister would be up at the track. I will be going there pretty soon as well. My car is mildy modified, and yes indeed, Cecil is a sticky track. I might be up there next weekend. I might try to go to the Domestic vs. Import wars in NJ but we'll see.

Anyway I drive a 97 "sage mist green" Maxima. I have Presidential Inaugural Tags that read "STOLEN" and a banner in my rear glass that says "PYRO". You will recognize me if you see me. I really dont know what my car runs now, cause I just added a Y pipe and a cold ram air ShopVac intake, but I'm also hauling quite a load in the trunk.

Thanks man! Yeah the torque steer was horrendous at first but the first mod I did was to get Poly Urethane bushings on the mid and end links up front. Man! That got rid of it completely. But that was stock and now I am at an estimated 325 HP at the crank. With that and the monster meat tires it has returned but just a little and you really do get used to is. I guess it is a small price to pay for all that torque. The earlier models from 97 and up to about mid year 98 did have some problems but *usually* the first model year of any new car is going to have its share of bugs and since this was a total redesign not just a sheet metal change it was to be expected. That is why I waited until 99. Car build date was 7/99 I bought it new on 8/25/99 and as of today it has a little of 42K miles on it. I drive it allot and I drive it hard. So far there hasn't been anything to complain about. I got one of the good ones. It was also one of the factory fast ones too. When I had only 3k on it and it was all still bone stock I went to Cecil and ran 14.6! I then pulled the air box and ran 14.3! I have the timeslips! I did nothing else to the car!

Ok well I have rambled enough...hopefully we can meet up at the track one day.
