New Questions for peeps with Upgraded Seats...
Hey guys. My mom is just totally dissatisfied with her 2k3 seats. We've begun the process of trying to figure out how to get different seats in there. For you guys that have done custom seat work, who can you get to make brackets? How about the seat belt system? Does the stock belt and all that fit into aftermarket or other manufacturers seat belt clips? If not, can the clip be changed? I've heard that this specific topic is tough because most people won't mess with the safety system due to regulations and legal stuff.
I poked my nose ina couple threads where it was mentioned that a seat might be able to be connected to stock rails (on the brackets). I checked and found that the 4th gen seat brackets do *not* bolt in the same location as 2k3 brackets, at least in the front. Would it be possible to somehow put a 4th gen seat on the 2k3 seat rails?
We are looking for flatter, less bolstered seats as replacements, so all the aftermarket racing seats are out. It's gotta be a 4th gen seat, or preferably, a seat from a different manufacturer like Toyota.
Thanks

Oh yeah, one other question.. I noticed that the back bolts on the front seats are attached differently. One most obviously has a nut underneeth it. The left bolt is harder to tell. Is there a nut? or does it just screw into the frame? It looks like the latter. We may try giving the rear of the 2k3 seat a little more height by putting in a couple washers if the bolts are long enough. Anyone happen to know their exact size?
Thanks
Thanks
I just went outside and measured some things on both cars. The 4th gen and 5th gen seat rails appear to be about the same length, about 13.5". The difference is that the 4th gen rails have about a 1inch extra in length after the "rivits, pegs, whatever you wanna call it" which attach the rails to the brackets. The rivets are 1" apart on both cars.
The width of the rails themselves is totally different between the two cars. It does not appear that the rails could be swapped between seats easily.
I took some pictures (for reference) of the brackets on both cars, which I will post later.

I don't see how u couldn't have some 5th gen rails welded on 4th gen seats. That would be your best bet.
good luck
