Will excessive idling cause a check engine light?

I'm actually asking because my wife's 96 Pathfinder just had the CEL turn on, and she warms up the car for like 10 minutes almost every time she uses it. It drives me nuts, but she always wants the car warm for our newborn baby.... hard for me to argue with that.

i highly doubt it
