Nissan dealer vs. Infiniti dealers
Nissan dealer vs. Infiniti dealers
I am in the process of relocating and there is an Inifiniti dealer close to me. I plan on taking my max there for general maint (oil change etc.). Do Infiniti dealers charge more than Nissan? Do they generally do better work? I am almost out of warranty and would rather have the good service of Infinity if it is not too much more money.

NJ Comparison
An example from central NJ: I bought an Nissan Maxima 02 SE the same time a colleague bought her 02 Infiniti I35. Oil and filter change is $21.95 at my Nissan dealer. Her's is $44.95 at the Infiniti dealer. We've compared notes and here are the differences:
- I get Filterfresh by-the-cup machine coffee and on a good day, Dunkin Donuts. She gets premium coffee and a pastry in the waiting room.
- She can get a loaner car, but I'm out within 45 minutes tops.
I figure I can stop by Wegman's on the way home and get a better coffee and freshly-baked pastry for $3.00 and pocket the extra $20. Quality of service at the dealership is never an issue for me - I've been a happy customer for years (Their good service dept. makes Nissan's slipping quality less of a problem. At least I know I won't have to fight when something goes wrong.)
On one occasion, I dropped her off at the Infiniti dealer and found the "service assistant" to be somewhat surly. She's said that she's found that the Infiniti service dept. bent over backwards for the first year or so, and then the magic disappeared. As a favor to her, I asked my dealer if they would do oil changes and such on her Infiniti. He said that they could, but Nissan discourages it. I didn't press the point.
It all comes down to the individual dealership, regardless of the nameplate.

Not sure if it's any different for people that don't own Infinitis, but I know I have received great service at both Infiniti dealers I've used (Nashville, Knoxville). It's probably more expensive (usually around $50), but they clean the interior, wash the car, and provide me with a loaner (wooohooo G35) for the whole day so I can really come and go at my convenience.
The service assistants I've dealt with are always top notch and even remember me by name. I don't think I've ever been as satisfied as I have with getting service done at Infiniti dealers.
