any1 tried Drifting with their Maxima??

i don't know how to drift a vehicle but i do know how to pull a 180 (well, atleast close to it).. has any1 seen or tried to actually drift their max? is it possible or does the car have to be RWD?

you are guessing 100% correct. If we had rwd and broke the rear tires loose it would easily swing around, but breaking the front wheels loose just makes you understeer really bad.

I can drift my Max by changing my suspension setup and inducing the rear tire breaking loose by using the E-brake. I usually set my rear struts to 8 and the fronts at 1 or 2 when I do this. But it's sure scary when you do it the first time.

are you sure FWD can drift? i thought that you need lots of torque on your rear wheels. i am guessing you mean you can do a 180 or pull donuts.. but i doubt a max can continuously drift ..

if the members don't know what drift is, type "drifting" in Kazaa (video) and you'll see it. it's hot

This is a gayest thread I have ever seen on this forum. IBTL

BTW, one of the funniest links I've ever seen. It describes all the import enthusiasts that have a wing and FWD car that they think they can drift in.

It is possible to drift in a FWD car, but it takes lots of skill, patience, and practice to learn such a thing......the majority of the people think they are drifting in their FWD.....are probably just doing a powerslide aka USdrifting, like what EZEMaxima is doing. If some of you guys seen some Japanese racing vids...that contain drifting...you might see a one or two FWD cars drifting maybe even none.....but again it takes a lot of skill do to do such a thing.....the reason RWD is favorable to drift cuz its easier. Once you learn to drift in a FWD car, it will be just as fun as drifting in a RWD car. To get a FWD to drift, you have to get the back end to slide just like a RWD car but keeping the front wheel spining and the rear sliding, as you can tell this is very hard to execute, cuz of course the backend will follow thru where ever the front wheels turn, but the main objective is to keep the back end sliding.....in that case have as much weight in the front of the car than the back.....the lighter the backend is the better your chances of getting the rear to beak loose and slide with ya.

Id say the only place safe enough to drift with fwd, would be a LARGE open parking lot covered in snow. Trying it on public roads is just asking for trouble, not to mention that you might end up killing yourself.

this thread = to the 10th power

sometimes I regret that drifting is even starting to pick up in the US...cause now all these posers out here claim to "drift this and drift that", yet they are just loosing control of their POS cars
