Wipers, mirros and windshield smearing....

Hey all, this is probably an OT thread but here goes anyway...On my wifes CR-V, the mirrors and windshield smear in the rain. I've tried scrubbing them to get any grime off, but no avail. The car is kept outside (no HIDs ). On the max though, the rain beads all over the car....especially the glass surfaces.

I'm gonna buy the PIAA wipers for her, but the mirrors will need RAin-X monthly....

Is the smearing that we're observing normal for cars that are kept outside???....Input from Max owners without heat mirrors would be appreciated...

Happy New One to all!!!....

There is probably some type of tree sap or possibly some kind of oil got on the window. IMO i would wash your car down give it a quick wax and use rain-x on the windows.

No oil or tree sap....I scrubbed them down with a plastic scouring pad.

I have the same exact problem on my max right now. Most likely its oil thats been kicked up by other cars that has smeared on your windshield and when it mixes with the water it gets horrible. I cant see anything at night with headlights glaring on it. I've gotten out and cleaned the wipers and the windshield but to no avail.

I bought some new blades, but I want to know if theres some kind of product that can get out oil/grease out of glass (not windex) but maybe something better before I put in the new blades and ruin them too.

I've used some citrus based spray cleaner one time...it did the trick for a few days. I guess we'll have toeiher expand the garage, or rain-x in the cold....

New wipers will not remove smear. Scrub the glasses with a good grease remover soap.

Bonami ...we use it on aircraft windscreens. You can also try "Prist" glass cleaner.

You just have crappy wipers, I have them too. I made a paste from baking soda and a tad of water and the windows were perfectly clean but the wipers were still garbage.

Yeah, Prist will get 300 mph bug guts off windshields, so it should cut thru whatever you've got pretty nicely! I didn't know they sold it to the genereal public tho G20?
