I just have to say. Q45 is one big car.
Looks like the engineers got to have fun with this one. The computer is totally integrated. Most car electronics functions have been put into the in dash computer display. Lots of technology in this beast.
The "Bird's Eye Maple" wood trim is actually nice and refreshing from all the burlwood that is in the other cars. Interior is actually pretty good in my opinion. They didn't get too button happy in this car thank god. To see what I mean just go look at the dash of the big Mercedes.
Oh the reclining back seat was a hit with the Fiance.
Unfortunately didn't get to hear the engine running.
This car should be a good alternative to the more pricy large luxury sedans of Mercedes. Hope that they bring the sequential shift feature to more models of Infiniti and Nissan though. Acura's TL is definately ahead of the I30 and Maxima in that respect. I wonder how much Porche/Volkswagen charges for the patent licenses on those transmissions?

It's all the same I think. Infiniti has it labeled just as "5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode". Every manufacturer has their own cute marketing name for this feature. Volkswagen has "Tiptronic", Acura is "Sequential SportShift".
They are all basically the same. 5 speed automatic transmission with a manual selector mode to tell the transmission to shift up or down one gear at a time.

All the automatic with manual shift are the same, Lexus's e-shift, BMW's steptronics, VW/Audi's tiptronic...
It's all sissy BS, not like a real manual.
The only real F1 system is like the one in Ferrari, it's a real 6sp tranny. CPU will match the rev for you when you downshift, and upshift at redline actually gives a neckjerk feeling.

but if he is ever stuck in a NYC traffic, i think he would forget about his artful heel & toe, but wish he had a F1 tranny btw i think he can't shift faster than F1 either.
