I love the acceleration sound and the REVing but, I don't and never will like that V8 AMERICAN sounding crap at idle.

Maybe I am just wrong, but it doesn't "look" that fast, if squeeling of the tires isn't a good indication. I was mearly going off something that was a typical showing of a maxima with decent power.. not that all cars break loose.

And yes, everyone else's car is a piece of **** except mine. All of maxima.org has ****ty cars, please please please stopping posting pics of all your **** cars.

**** you.

agreed!! and anyone who bases a cars power gain on hearing a "trie chirp" is plain ignorant anyways

First of all, his V/I wasn't working and we've all seen the difference that makes (the loss of over 3 MPH in the 1/4 mile), and he has the stock ECU. Imagine that thing with a working MEVI and extended redline That would be a beast. I think any N/A max that has the ability to pull on an SRT-4 with stock redline and broke-down MEVI is damn impressive, I don't know about you...

I don't. That looks like a 40-50mph zone. Seeing that the truck was going a constant speed and he was WOT probably from a 10-15mph roll, it sure didn't look like he really took off that fast nor pulled away from the truck that hard. To me it didn't look like he took off terribly quick, but of course watching from the outside of the car be deceiving. Since he has the stock 6500rpm limiter and he only runs through 2nd gear (good to 66mph or so), it takes him approximately 6 seconds to get to the top 2nd (assuming he wrapped 2nd out close to redline). He goes WOT at ~3 seconds and let's off at ~9 seconds.

The fact that his MEVI wasn't working means little because he doesn't have the JWT ecu's extended redline, plus the MEVI does very little if anything from 0-70mph. It's too bad he doesn't have a 95-97 because he could really take advantage of all that extra topend power.

That lope sounds pretty cool, but it sounds nothing like a V8 with a crazy cam. If you guys think that sounds like a V8, you need to get your ears checked

BTW, I think the reason his MEVI is falling is because he has way too much vacuum line. His MAP sensor sits over by the timing chain which makes the system have to pull a lot of vacuum in the line. You need to keep the line as short has possible. It looks to me like he has about 2+' of line. That's way too much vacuum "head" (no not that head). I have about 8-10" of vacuum line operating the MEVI system. Here's his system:

YO!@!!!!! hahaha, second video I was a little dissappointed at first cause the dam car sounded like them 8 second ugly domestic cars where the exhaust sounds like it keeps burping but when u did that final rev, BOYYY!!! NO RICE SOUND, sounded like all power like WOAH!!!!!! I wish my car sounded like that! What did u rev up to when it made that nice a$$ sound?! it sounded like turbo or supercharger before the BOV kicks in but way better

P.S. - why does the car sound like an old domestic 9 second car before the revs?

Cams duration...his are a LOT longer and his valve stay open a bit longer. The lobes on the cam are bigger and longer making the idle "loppey" - pu TAT pu TAT

I really wonder how the engine would be with these cams plus boost. I know the SR20 guys run JWT cams and boost with HIGH gains. It does not say that the cams are strictly NA. We all know our motors are not built to run boost 10:1 compression, but we do anyway with great gains...I dont think it would hurt to boost. With older V8's you can run wild cams and blowers with no problems.

Iron Lung: care to try it?

What cam can U get for $65? So far for DOHC V6 and V8 engines cams are in the $900-1200 range. The reason cams are expensive is that new billet cams are $200 each from nissan. So figure $800 for new billets and having them reground runs around $100-300 so the price is right.

I bet those S1 cams from JWT would make 20-30whp in a boost VQ. The specs are simular to the S3s for the sr20de and those cams make big power with a turbo. While NA S3/S4s are good for 8-15whp for the sr20de but when boosted gains are typically 15-25whp easy.

we need dynos.
I know a well-designed/matched set of turbo cams would give great gains, but the chance of ever seeing those NOTcustom...

What is Hal talking about? Why would it not work on boosted car? I heard that I30Krab has a more aggressive cam in his motor and either blew the motor or destroyed the cams, then he switched to the normal JWT cams. Don't quote me on this.

Because these cams dial in some considerable valve overlap I'm sure. If you use these cams with boost some boost might escape the combustion chamber through the open exhaust valves at the beginning of the intake stroke. This is my theory. Can anyone confirm??

That setup is way too quiet sounding. His intake sounds exotic, a little farty, but exotic, but the exhaust is really quiet.

And too many factors go into chirping then just power. Driver skill, road conditions, what kind of tires you have, pavement conditions, condition of your clutch and flywheel, and weather conditions.

For instance, it was 50 degrees today here in Florida. I spun into second gear and the rear end broke loose big time, and I barked third. On normal, mid 70 degree days, I usually bark into 2nd and chirp third. Sometimes I won't chirp the tires at all, becuase the road is clean and hot, with perfect weather, allowing me to gain maximum grip.

Way too many factors go into "chirping" then just power.
