Are you talking about the plastic cover that covers the ignition coils? If so, I painted mine with 00SEinMA a few weeks ago. We did it black but we taped off the red strip and the nissan letters. It came out pretty good but we did many coats of paint. This is the procedure we used: clean, lightly sanded it, a couple coats of high temp primer, like 3 or 4 coats of black paint, then 3 or 4 coats of hi temp clear. Good luck! Ill post some pics when I get a chance.

Yea well I THOUGHT we were painting TODAY...no YESTERDAY!!
Peddy - if you like the same one in the picture...we'll do that too. But the VALVE COVER was what I needed more info on.

That looks sweet. Wish I could do that to my 4th gen. Maybe I can! I wanna get my intake manifold polished+like 1/4 of my vavle color. You guys think it would lok cool if they cut the front off the valve cover exposing the cams?
I used a high temp primer as well. Prime, sand, prime, paint, clear coat. I used 4 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear.
Came out ok. Doesn't look powdercoated, or professional, but better than it was:

However, for something like a valve cover, its not necessary.

Clearcoat only needs to be between 3-5 layers maximum. After that, it will actually lose some of the glossiness (is that a word?)...
Justin, so --
-Take valve cover off, clean it and let it dry
-Put 1 base coat of hi-temp paint, let dry
-Put 2nd coat on, let dry
-Put 3rd coat on, let dry
-Put *3* coat clear/gloss, let dry
-Put dat shiat back on.
That sound right/good?

Had mine painted on my 3rd gen for a while, but it never lasted. Had it sandblasted and powder coated for around $75 total and it's looked great ever since. Dirt wipes right off of it. Do it right once and be done with it. The results are much better than painting. Been there, done that 2 or 3 times, got aggrevated, spent the money and THEN did it right.

Powder coating is very long lasting

Powdercoating shop will have a sandblasting machine. That's how they prep before the powdercoating process. One thing about powdercoating VQ valve cover is that the spark plug seals will melt so you would have to replace those.
