own a 99 but should buy the 01?

ok i currently have a 99 auto max with 122,000 miles on it and my parents bought the car for me and they have decided that they will cosign with me on a loan so i can get a new car (new to me) and they will have the 99..and i found a '01 on the boards and its also 5-speed. what i was looking for is manual transmission. all i wanted to know is what was the real diff. between the 4th gen 99 than the 5th gen '01...the 5th gen also only has 42,000 miles rather than the 122,000 on the 99

One big pro for the 5th gen, The rear beam doesn't thump or side-step as bad as a 4th gen. Another is that the 5th gen has some form of heft in the steering wheel as well as road feel. The 5th gen feels heavier (solid) and is, and the doors shut with a thud.

Other than that, both cars are basically the same. The 5th gen is just an updated version. Its based on subjectivity, which one you prefer.

Honestly, if I had enough to get an 01, I'd be looking for a 6-speed 02. Why would you want to miss out on getting a 265hp monster with factory HIDs? There shouldn't be too much difference in price between the two.

yeah, what drew said. go the extra mile and get the '02, you'll be much happier. the 3.5L has much more potential...

I have an auto 4th gen, and sometimes wish I had a 5spd, but I wouldn't buy a 5th gen just for manual trans., unless it were an '02 or '03. it's just not enough of an upgrade otherwise.
