what to use to take paint off....

... my calipers? I don't want anything corrosive damaging the aluminum on my Z calipers, but I need to take off the previous coat of paint. I've been using denatured alcohol, but the going is slow and the crevices are hard to get to. Any suggestions?

If its those yellow ones I think I remember seeing, heat gun and a toothpick? Dunno...Sure you dont like Yellow.

We use paint stripper on our aluminum wheels on our motorcycles and it does not seem to harm them...might want to give that a shot. Doing this with all the seals and goodies in or out?

i was afraid of the seals and rubber dust boots taking damage, so I took apart the whole caliper with Matt93se's help via PM.

Its only the bare aluminum now, surprsingly light compared to when i first got it with the brake pads and everything else on it.

hm... i have no access to a heat gun. I was considering sand blasting, but have no idea where i can do that. Powder coating would still require me to take the paint off and yes, I dislike the yellow (plus it wasn't done really well)

i will try paint stripper from home depot.

We use the most agressive paint remover the metal thats painted will withstand. Just remove the dust shields and rinse the residue off really well as instructed by the mfg.

There are also water based paint removers on the market if you want to take a less agressive approach.

aircraft stripper works really well. you can find it at most parts stores.

that or lacquer thinner- but aircraft stripper works much faster.

The aircraft stripper comes in either an aerosal can or a thick liquid in a can that you can brush on. Very stong stuff, works really well. Can use a brass brush to get into the small crevices once you brush it on. Wash it off good once you are done, and don't spatter or even splash the water you are washing it off with on any painted surface.
