Swapping Transmission/Engine. How. Where. Help.

i have two 3rd generation maximas. one car is not running and is parked in my yard. the other, i drive but the transmission is just about gone. i can only drive it on overdrive on 2. not even D. is there any way i can get a tutorial or something so i can strip my junk max of its engine and transmission? i desperatly need the transmission. someone give me some advice.

or, how much will is cost to have a shop put the good transmission into my car?

this transmission isnt ging to last much longer and soon i wont be able to even use 2nd gear. i cant even go faster than 55 mph without having to reach redline. time is vital. help.

i have a garage and all the tools nessesary. i just need to know how to do this.

HHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPP please! i am in need of a life saver.

ps. the non running car is totalled and the body is too messed up. but the engine and transmission are great. thats why i need this

guy buy a haynes or chiltons manual. take your time and use some sense. you'll be alright if you have some mechanical know-how.

IF you want to do it yourself.. its going to take you 10 - 15 hours..

if you get a shop to do it.. labor is $600 - $800

where are you located?

Do you have any friends that are auto-savvy? Swapping a tranny isn't exaclty rocket-science, but its definately not a job for anyone. Honestly, I did my first tranny sway on an Eclipse with just a chiltons book. I needed help from a friend to get it in (it was heavy!), but aside from that it wasnt bad. Took a total of about 10 hours broken up over two days, and that was taking alot of breaks. You'll save a ton if you can do it!
Good Luck! Joe
