Turns out it was a bent axle...

Well if some of you saw my previous posts on my suspension or brake problems it turns out that I actually had a bent axle. Presumably caused by the accident I was in a few months ago, which makes sense since the pulling and tugging was to the right, and the spot of the car that hit was the pass side front as well. Luckily I know the owner of a local shop so it won't end up costing me too much, but Nissan won't get it to the shop until Saturday so hopefully I will have the car back late Saturday or early Monday...I haven't driven the car in about 3 or 4 days and already in withdrawl

Haha...well I'm hoping insurance covers it since it is still something from the accident that was simply missed but who knows, if not it won't cost me too much...I'm just glad my car will be back to how it was when I first got it...now all I want is some nice weather for a nice cleanup after all of the winter crap

Yeah, good part is half-shafts aren't that expensive. But still should make sure that insurance flips the bill. If it didn't pull before, it shouldn't be pulling now.

Are they going to replace the axle or just unbend it? Also, how much where you quoted?

It'd be easier to replace them. You don't want to unbend a bent axle because one, it can effect the balance of the axle, and it could cause some nasty vibrations.

Wow! $350??? That's pretty damn expensive if you ask me. Will insurance reimburse you for it? If not, I think you should fight to get reimbursed.

OEM drive axles list for $550 so if you're getting one installed for $350, that's
a pretty good deal. You sure it's not an aftermarket axle?

You sure driving on a bent axle couldn't have messed up some other ****, like the wheel bearings?
It'd suck if you got that work done and found out the wheel bearings were toast afterwards...

Well I don't think your insurance should go up if soemthing that was missed while it was in the shop for repairs. That sucks, a bent axle. I hope it'll works out for you once they fix it.
