MAXIMA when ever people talk about upgrading . is most of time

and what other choices you had when you got it ?

For me, it was all about the 5-speed in a mid-size sedan. Its just so rare.
My choices were:
-99-up Jetta 1.8T (slightly to expensive, and small)
-late 90s Audi A4 1.8T (same as jetta)
-Pontiac Grand Am GT (i liked it, interior took a little gettin used to, but has major quality issues)
-Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (interior was just to plasticky, and a lil out of my budget)
-Mitsubishi Diamante
-Mazda Millenia (interior was dispointing)
In the end, i test drove the max, fell in love, and thats all she wrote...

Where's the poll?
Anyhow, I like 4 door cars. I like sports cars. I put the two together and I had my answer. There aren't too many peppy manual tranny 4 door cars out there under $20,000.

Wanted the Max bad after a co-worker bought one. I always liked the 4 door sports sedan moniker attached to the car. I LOVE the 4th gen SE's, and I LOVE the VQ35, so what better than to get the next iteration, in a 5th gen SE.
Honestly, I didn't test drive any other car, I had my heart set on the Max from the moment I made up my mind to replace my Camry. The power, handling, braking, looks was too much for me...Every time I drive the car, a smile comes across my face, and that justifies the payment I sent the bank every month.
Only other car I considered was Acura CL-S, but couldn't find one for under $20K with decent miles, and I had heard their trans were a bit suspect, so Maxima I went....

I always like the sport in the 4door car. The styling. I always wanted one since H.S which at the time when I first saw the 3rd gen Maxima I fell in love but couldn't afford until I can which I got myself a 5Th Gen......WHOO HOO
I was looking at financing a 97 bmw 850... Because it is my dream car =) But than my boss who has an awesome maxima started talking me into a maxima, I had already liked nissan ...So I guess I should thank Chris for introducing me to maxima...Because now I love my maxima...
I see I am the only one so far who voted NEEDED CAR FAST.
When transmission in my '90 Caravan totally died I decided to not drop another in and needed car asap. My only requirements were 5sp in 4 dr sedan.
My short list because of very limited budget was:
-Accord
-Passat VR6
-Audi 90
Somehow I totally forgot about Maximas. When I accidently came accros one at a dealer and testdrove it, bought it same instance and praise my luck that did not get anything other than Maxima.

I owned a 3rd gen when I was 16 and really loved it. Now I went back to a 5th Gen Max because of insurance reasons. Little did I know that the HID issue of the 2k2+ would kill that idea. Anyhow I need a 4 door for a little over 4 more months till my rates go back to normal then I'm selling this biatch.
I own one for the fact of VQ, fun, style, room, value and 6-speed. It is in it's own league. Always has been.
I really want a G35 sedan 6-speed, but a bit pricey right now for me. But that is my next car.
This 2002 Max is my 5th Nissan (my second Max) in a row, so you can add that I have had great luck with my Nissan vehicles. And I never bought one from a Nissan dealer..they SUCK! LOL

I was given a Camry and it was slow as molasses and my dad needed to sell it to pay for my college fees
So i had 8k to spend and i'd always wanted a Maxima.
My requirements, 95+ 5spd, 4doors, reliable, speedy
So logically the Maxima came into the picture and that's it
Soon will have my Datsun 510 as well though, i'm just a Nissan guy

For me it was bang for the buck and I couldn't afford the other cars even though my parent bought the car for me. Although I do see Audi TT"s for like $18k now, granted they are not fast nor big but kind of sporty and luxurious and in a way pimp. The is300 or e46 bmw was too much $ for an 18 year old like rob said
Well, a friend of mine got a real easy loan from Peoplefirst and bought an A4. I already owned a relatively new, albeit crappy car (2000 Cavalier), but he got me going on how easy it was to get the loan, so I figured what the heck. Got a big blank check, a ridiculously low rate, and went shopping. The Max was the only non-Honda/Toyota car in my price range that had leather, moonroof, heated seats, and a 5 speed. Was going to get an A6 but didn't want my buddy to get salty or think I was biting his style. This is my 12th car, and it's hands down the best one I've owned so far.
When I wanted the car, I saw the commercial and that was the day that I set out to look for a 2k2 or 2k3 Maxima. I found a good price at the time. They didn't have the color of the 2k3 I wanted (2k2 was $100 less so I went for the 2k3) so they ordered me a 2k3 Majectic Blue. Got it on July 1, 2002 and didn't even test drive. Signed some BS and was on my way home!
I have never driven a V6. My parents always let me drive their 4 bangers which sucked. Always ripped on the accelerator. MY V6 was a whole other story. I never red lined nor crossed 4000 RPM until right before Winter. OMG! I thought I was gonna bust my pants. Never knew there was a red line (rev limiter) until I installed my intake. And off I went to the Test Track. (highway)

After driving my 80 Accord for 11 yrs it was time to replace it with a new one but my dealer had his nose too high in the air and wouldn't deal .. I wanted something :
Cool looking
5 speed
good handling
Reliable
comfortable
So I paid $500.00 less for my 91SE than the Honda guy wanted for an accord and have loved it ever since. It really is a 4DSC!! And it has been very very reliable!!
So when it was time for another new car .... it was just a question of what year Max I was going to buy.
Drove an 04 SE - didn't like the looks & style
Drove an 02 GLE - QUICK!
Drove an 00 20anv SE and it was really nice but after driving the 02 it felt like it wasn't running quite right.
Found a fully optioned out 03 SE auto with 20k miles on it and negotiated the price down to what I had paid for the 91 back in 91 and bingo!!

I always had a thing for Nissan with the 300zx, but I never really thought about the Maxima. I knew reliability of Nissan was a plus since my parents had a Pathfinder with over 200,000 miles on the original tranny and motor (which I bought and drive to this day).
My brother bought a 96 GLE in 1999. I test drove it a little and was surprised how the quick it was. Much quicker than an Integra GSR that I was thinking of buying. So I had a car wholesaler friend find me a 4th gen Maxima 5-speed at auction instead of a doggy Integra. The rest is history. I am really enjoying the car now. Just wish winter would end so I could get her out of the garage.

Was gonna get an '03 SE-R Spec V brand new, but a coworker suggested I look at Maximas... I liked his 2K auto GXE, seemed like the right kind of car for me, so I found my leather 2K 5-speed SE full-loaded for around the similar price as an SE-R Spec V (bought the max last june)
because of sadler's pimp ride. its what got me interested. and my family has always driven nissans and shuch and i was amazed how the 95 mAx sitting in the garage could ever look so hot and go so fast.
I spent months deciding on a car (even though I got the TL first, thats a diff story), it came down to this:
-Late 90s Audi 1.8T (Reliability sucks, interior too small)
-GTP (Reliability sucks, cheap interior, not my kind of style)
Early 90s SC400/300 (Hard to find, it was #2 under the max)
Mid 90s Q45 (Too expensive to maintain)
The Max always seemed to be the car id come back to, its a great choice overall, its just great in every catagory. Overall awesome car.

Needed to replace my '93 Sentra with 200K miles since I wanted something reliable, even though Sentra is running fine (still have it in fact). Forget GM/Ford, I've had too many problems with em. Looked at 3 year old V6 Accords, way overpriced. Found my SE at a nissan dealer, drove it, loved it, had to have it and $$ was right!
Here is my story on how I ended up with my '02.
I had a '91 SE-R since '91. In Nov. 2002 I broke my left foot (clutch foot!) and could not drive my 5-speed. had to bum rides and that sucked.
A great family I know in town had bought a '95 GLE new back in Aug of '95. She happened to walk in not long after I bummed my foot and she asked me if I still loved her Max, and I said sure, I always loved that car. So, she said if you want it, make us an offer. So i did and away I drove in the '95. So, now I was balanced with a cool Nissan 5-speed and a cool Nissan Auto.
Word got out that I had two Nissan's (I guess a single guy with no wife or kiddo's doesn't need two cars) and I was starting to get offers on the SE-R.
Some were very good! So....I played and put a lil ad out on SR20DE.net and bam, got an offer I could not refuse. After 10.5 excellent years together, My SE-R drove away , but had a decent lump of dough to deposit.
Well, I modded and babied this '95, and started to really miss my manual ALOT! Too much really.
So, i was toying on the net locating manual cars I would be interested in buying. TSX, RSX, Max, SE-R's etc.
RSX was ay high on insurance and to be realistic a bit small form my lifestyle. But I love that size car. So I ruled it out.
TSX just was so fun to drive, and Acura is so high to insure (compared to nissan) and I still missed the VQ when behind the wheel.
New SE-R just seems to pale commpared tot he original and I am not really fond of a Mexico built Nissan and the 2.5 QR.
So...went Maxima lurking on the net, found my white 6-speed beauty, e-mailed them, (they were selling to get a new Z) got insurance lined out, met them In Oklahoma City, drove it and bought it.
All to make a long story short.
It is like have a big SE-R and my 95 GLE all rolled up into one. Grin all the time driving. One can have their cake and eat it too!

My family has had maxima's since the early 80's. They are great car...practical...and fun!
