Hey guys,

I just pulled the tint off of my windows but I am having trouble getting the glue off. I tried scrubbing really hard with Windex but it barely removes any of it. Is there a product out there that will make it easier to remove?

get some goo off, or some industrial remover allways works.

 

Why not just have it professionaly removed they have a chemical they use, not to expensive.

 

ammonia & water mix often works..

usually I just let the stuff dry out a bit, then use a razorblade to scrape most of it off.. then go back with windex or ammonia and get the last of it off.

 

Razorblades with a soap/water mix is what I used.

 

ammonia will mess stuff up. bumper sticker remover and an old credit card. scrape it with the card. it's a pain but works and is safe. won't scratch or stain anything.

 

ammonia won't do anything if you don't drip it everywhere.
I've used it many times before removing tint...

 

Windex and a razorblade. Windex will break down the glue and cause no harm to anything else!

yeah the razorblade should work fine as long as you use some sort of soapy solution.

took me about 3 hous getting off the craprific stock tint. i used up about 8 razorblades and 3/4 bottle of windex. if you are going to use a razorblad, make SURE it's new/sharp.

 

mix soap and water into a spray bottle. Spray the window up real good to make the glue soft, and then use a long sharp blade to remove everything. . . dont worry. the blade wont scratch the window.

 

soap and water won't do anything...go to home depot or lowes and get some adhesive remover, i think i used something called R1 remover before and it did a good job. anyway they also sell tint off stuff at wal-mart and different other retails...hell if i know if it works tho, best of luck to ya... btw don't use anything too coarse, made the mistake of that on my old car and it looked like i had foggy windows in 80 degree summer heat

 

Go to a Autozone or Pep Boys and ask them for tint removal spray (forgot the name). All you do is apply the stuff on your tint or on the guey residue and wait 5 min and scrap it off with a razor. Comes off really easy. I did my drivers and pass windows in less than 20 min.

 

ammonia can dissolve your rear window defroster lines.

 

Thanks for all of your suggestions so far, but what about the rear window? I can't exactly use a razor blade on that window or I'll mess up the defroster lines.

Don't use any razor blade or anything abrasive on the rear window or else you will risk damaging the defroster lines. You can heat up the tint and slowly pull the tint off. Then use the goo off remover and slowly take off the residue. Follow up with a good auto window cleaner product. For the other windows you can use the razor blade and remover solution. Just let the solution soak the residue first and be careful with the razor. Use a new one and at slight anglel all the time. This way you will not scratch the glass. Good luck and not too bad of a job just time consuming!

 

I used this stuff as well and it makes the job SO easy....its called GILIA (SP?) it was right underneth the tint stuff at my local advanced auto

 

i used GooGone and single edged razors on the straight glass... and on the rear window i used ultra fine steel wool pads and alot more GooGone.

How's WD40 on the rear window ? Is that safe for the defroster line ?

 

I was going to say WD-40, it works, it's a solvent and it doesn't hurt metal.. defroster lines... just don't scrape the lines.

 

I used windex and a razorblade. It worked alrite but its a pain to get it off. I did one and went to a tint shop to get it removed. They charged me $40 for all the side windows. U should leave the rear one on.
