How LOW can you go???

Well time came that I finally decided to ditch the Maxspeed's after pioneering them a long time ago. Not to mention I must have put 30k miles on the Maxspeed/Stock SE strut combo.

Pics of the new setup

And for all those people who keep talking smack about how this car NEEEEEEEDs a body kit, well its in the garage waiting to be sent out to get painted.

Yea I had it slammed lower, but to me it looked too ricey cause the tire was tucking to the point the rim was almost tucking. Made me think about those accords that ride around with coils cut and how ricey it looks.

Not to mention my bigger problem is the Turbo down pipe, couldnt deal with a 1.5" of clearance.

Welcome to the wonderful world of JIC, i need rims to complete my ride. I've been tempted to drop mine lower, and i have no turbo piping to worry about, just alot of speed bumps at work.

very nice

but to answer your question,
I've been lower and i do not reccomend going any lower than that. I've driven for 6 moths tucking the front wheels into the fender and blew a strut in the end as i've just found out.

I'm ripping the GCs out for Maxspeeds but I just returned the front to stock today and it looks terrible, i never saw the car jacked up like that, i'm ashamed to drive on it.. basically feel that Maxspeeds won't give me nearly enough of a drop as I'd like..

Any pictures of the Maxspeed setup (with OEM 17s if possible?) ?

What suspension were you on for this?

I assume you don't have JICs, because they are designed an entirely different way than any coilover (besides teins and toser). They retain all strut travel, while dropping the car, even to the rim as mentioned..

Stillen AERO kit is wat is going on the car.

As far as whats left to do to the car? There are tons more of engine performance mods to do to get me even closer to a 500-600whp goal.

Wow our cars are so much alike! The drop looks great! I had JIC's when I first bought my car but they were sold to help pay for my wheels...too bad I didn't just get the knockoffs would have saved my a ton of trouble. Anyhow the Aero kit would complete the car nicely. My car is going into the body shop in 2 weeks to have my Aero kit put on.

hence why toser's cost what they cost and why JIC's cost what they cost.. one is made to be lowered all the way and be used in track conditions, the other is a budgeted way to achieve the look but not the performance. it's hard to compare the two because they aren't designed for the same use.

malik is too cool to post pictures of his car

Compared to JIC's, how do the New Cattman Coilovers match up to them ?? I have a set in my room ready to be installed on my 96...just wondering

Performance Wise ???

The old ones (cattman gen 1+2) were noisy due to the top mounts...He went to all polyuethane mounts for the top of the strut

Anyone ?

I actually take that back.. You're right, I have not looked much into exactly how JICs make that work. If all shock travel is retained and the shock is not put under a great amount of stress as you sit lower, then it's not bad to go low as far as maintaining full functionality and reliability of the setup.. I also can't really judge if I was lower than he's sitting in that pic just from a picture, plus the different diameter wheels etc.. hard to tell for sure. But I'm pretty sure i was.. although he can get lower than that, i presume..

and I was on piece of sh-t Ground Controls..
I should have seen the problems coming..

I can drop the front even 1.5" lower and still retain full shock travel, but like I said, I cant have my downpipe sitting 1.5" off the ground. I wouldnt even be able to get into my driveway then.
