Anyones Rear Struts Ever Act Real Wierd??
My rear stuts: The chrome piston is able to bounce with the bumps, its hard to explain, when I push down on the trunk, the car moves, but the struts don't (when the car is at highest point struts are in normal position, when the car settles back down, the piston sticks out 1" extra than regularly, causing the black plastic cover to fly off) Its almost as if the mounts arent even there!
EDIT: At the lowest point of me pushing on the trunk I can expose 3-4" of chrome strut piston....visible in the back seat cause the seats are out and I long ago removed that 2lb center piece separating the trunk.....

Broken strut. Needs replacement. I had a similar thing happen to a brand new strut in a VW of mine. There was some sort of ring at the top of the shaft that secured the whole thing together. The slot was not milled deep enough and it slipped out and the strut would move up into the car, while only the spring was providing resistance. Sounds similar to your problem.

Wow sounds like you guys have a serious problem. Strut pistons traveling into your trunk doesn't help handling much. BRIGBOY, your description is hard to understand and why do you not know what year your car is.

That is very wierd. It doesn't look like the strut is the problem. Looks like the bushings are somehow very messed. I don't remember exactly what it looks like because I did my springs 8 months ago. I'm doing the AGX's tomorrow though, so I'll snap a pic of the rear assembly for ya.

Whoops forgot to take a pic of it. But I remember.
That washer that your finger should be held below the mounting bushing/plate. A new piece from nissan should do the trick. I would be careful when taking that apart.
