The Max is still looking Nice and Clean!!!

Great Job on the install of the seats. What is your review of them? I am still actually contemplating purchasing a set. Any advice or comments on the seats would be much appreciated.

Here's a seat review, just for you.

The R1 Racing seats ran me $100 for the pair - the only reason I bought them was because of the deal I was getting. And as the saying goes, which ESPECIALLY applies to racing seats "you get what you pay for." I'll go ahead and point out the positives to these seats first. The upholstry is a good material which I doubt will show wear easily. The seats are comfortable, and very thin (giving 2"+ more legroom to rear passengers). They look good, and have 4-way adjustability (forward/back, tilt back forward/back). These seats seem a little bigger than most, I'd guess they can fit a size 40 waist comfortably. Bolsters are effective and keep you MUCH more stabile than the stock seats.

Now on to the negatives. Let's start with the upholstry - towards the head of the seat, the upholstry is coming out from around the harness holes. It can be tucked in, but it is irritating that if someboy touches the back of the seat it will come out a little (looks tacky because you barely see the yellow foam). The grips on the bolsters are a soft rubber which is already scratched to hell. Just getting in and out of the car you will rub against these and that's enough to scratch them. Also the seats do NOT go 100% upright, therefore you must recline at least a 30+-deg angle, which is irritating if you are used to the seat up like me. Also the reclining mechanism is somewhat cheap, seems flimsy and is not well concealed.

Now to the mounting. The worst part (to me) is installation because you have to fabricate the brackets. Fortunatley my driver's side already had a bracket so it just bolted in. For the passenger's side I had to order a Corbeau bracket and work from there. I didn't want to ruin my factory seat mounts so I did not use those. It takes a while to align everything and make sure it will bolt into the car. The Corbeau brackets are mighty pricy at $98 a piece. Anyways I mounted my passenger's seat about 1" higher than my driver's side. Reason being it is about the height of the factory seat, while my driver's seat remains lower because I'm pretty tall myself. It looks a little odd, but really just like my seat is reclined more.

All in all, they were definitely worth $198! I know I pointed out a lot of negatives, but I'm a very picky guy and I bet I'd find at least 2 things wrong with a set of $1700 racing seats. Considering a nice pair of Corbeaus will run about $600, these are definitely worth $350. Only problem is making the brackets, but if you have a friend in the metal/welding business then you are straight. For many of us it's hard to make the bracket because we don't have these tools - that's why I had to order the Corbeau bracket and work from that. If I could do this whole project for under $400 I would say it's well worth the money. Any more and honestly I would take the step up to Corbeaus, especially since they will bolt right in! Anyways good luck with your decision and let me know if you have any other questions.

The car looks great Cy. Keep up the good work. I was gonna ask you if you had leather, but I know the answer to that question.

What's the 1/4 time on that bad boy?

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Will I am still using the stock seatbelt right now, the buckle is bolted into the seat and wired so the seatbelt dash light doesn't show.

Conrad it's not leather... yet. I'm hoping to put a leather rear seat in, door panels, shift boots, armrest cover, ebrake boots etc. I'm thinking two-tone dark grey on black.. but then it wouldn't match the front seats. Decisions, decisions.

The 1/4, I'm not sure yet! I'm waiting for a VB mod so that I can track it. I don't want to put too much strain on the OEM tranny.

hrm...it would be neat if you can get some aftermarket seat belts and buckle up on your RSTB to the headrest section with rear seats remove for track use. just a thought

If I was closer to you I sure would man, but I'm in Baltimore.

I would need your seats and the car, since mine are already in the car. I would have to pull mine out and disassemble them, which honestly is a PITA.

Good news is making the bracket isnt too bad. I can explain it to you if you get them. If you have a drill, all you need to get is 1 bit, 4 bolts, and 4 nuts. It isn't that bad at all, but it is time taking.
