Hood Locking pins(plan to use on CF hood)

any one using these or planing on?
I think this should make an alarm system that much better by keeping people out of the engine compartment.

this has been discussed before, they cannot be used on our hoods because of the shape. plus since it is carbon fiber and fiberglass all some1 needs to do is lift in the hood real hard in one place and that part will crack off... so there isnt much you can do to prevent some1 from geting under hood.

The idea of this is not for security, I think he wants to try to use this instead of the standard hoodpin look. If so, sure you can use them, no reason you cant.
You definetely need the hoodpins on the CF hood otherwise it will snap off like a twig. I didnt want to put them on mine, but now see why you DO NEED them.

There is a reason you can't use them, and that is they won't fit on your hood. The way the locking mechanism on those works, the surface of the hood has to be perfectly flat, and by flat I mean it must be parallel to the ground. I can't think of a single modern car with a hood which these will work on. I have a set sitting in my garage because I bought them not knowing how the locking mechanism was designed, and when I got them and was getting ready to install them, it becomes readily evident that the design is utterly stupid and they are a waste of money for anyone who's hood is curved or slanted with relation to the ground (or the surface which you are securing the locks to, which in my case was the radiator support.)

Right. The washer will fit just fine but the the way the lock rotates it wont work unless the hood is perpendicular to the direction that the prong is sticking up. and if you have the prong sticking up straight (which is how it would be if you mount it on the radiator support) then the hood isn't perpendicular so the lock cant turn.

Nealoc187 is correct. He made me aware of this the last time it was brought up. I had purchased some and after inspecting them before I put them on realized there werent going to work.
The post and the lock have to line up in order for the bottom of the lock(t shaped) to fit into the cutouts on the post.
If you could mount the post at an angle somehow then maybe.
I went with sliding hood pins.
