Compression Test Results

They were all around 210 give or take a couple PSI.

I am pretty pumped about that!

I was expecting a lower number that it has in the manual.
I guess all that matters is that they are all close together.

I just hit 100k a few weeks ago too!

I am almost ready to install the SC!
I already have installed:
370 injectors
Walbro
300zx fuel filter
SARD FPR , fp now at 26 psi (thanks guys!)
MEVI switching at 5300rpm
quaife
act hdmm
UR FW

TO do:
get z32 maf w/ some custom piping
get my JWT ecu back
install EGT, boost, FP, and oil pressure gauges (fp sender is already in)

AWESOME!

have you decided which pulley is going in? I would start with the 3.33. It has larger surface area for belt alignment and a nice 9psi of boost @ 6400. It will still be pretty quick because you have a manual shift.

if you are still waiting for the JWT, you can put on the blower, oil feed and drain first and check for belt alignment. your cross over pipe is not done yet so just crank the car few times and see if the belt is aligned on the idler pulley.

then you can start the car with the blower running, just be extra careful not to have something sucked in to the blower. once the check is complete, secure the SC belt and put the stock one back in.

hmmm - 210 all around seems a bit high ....
Alldata lists compression for maxima as follows:
standard:185 PSI
minimum:142 PSI

was your engine at normal operating temp during the test ???

high compression colud be resulted from carbon build-up,

just my 0.2 cents

Nick.

Thats what I was going to say, I dont understand how some people believe higher than 185 is better.

Time to do what I did with my old car, uh, pour a tablespoon or 3 of Automatic Transmission Fluid into each cylinder, reinstall the plugs/wires/etc and fire her up... giving a little throttle to help it along

I never did a compression test after that, but fuel economy did shoot up ~3-4mpg average!

Poor mans MMO bath, works great hunh I would be rather cautious though, 3 tablespoons is alittle much, atleast for my comfort level (atleast in our engines, probably not in a rotary).

Yeah I forget how much I actually put in there

Doesn't take much, although what I'd be worried about is the O2 sensors and catalytic converters... that Mazda was blowing massive amounts of white smoke for at least 3 miles of driving until it tapered off...
Either way, that car's not my problem anymore

I am just happy they are all around the same compression, I agree that higher is not better.
I realize that you were not accusing me of this. Of course I have heard this carbon build-up theory.

Maxi: that is a good idea, I wasn't sure what all I could do. I really want to just put that 2.87 in there!
I may be getting a 4th gen charger pipe from someone, so that might make things easier.
My JWT requires a z32 maf, so I am not sure about getting one yet.

2.87 + 7000k redline from JWT will overspin the blower. With 7000 redline....you probably can get 9 - 10psi off the 3.33.

make sure the person whos building your the pipe get an opening for the BOV - preferably at the same location as the stillen pipe. I think you can reuse the flange.....

At what point are you overspinning it? I really wanted to use that little midget!

I may be getting a used 4th gen charger pipe that had a greddy type s on it!

I was gonna ask about the ATF in the engine thing. I read THIS and was wondering whether it was worth it or if I'd mess up my engine.

For carbon, use SEAFOAM. Works Great.

No seafom doesn't work. I already used it didn't do jack for me. There was some white smoke coming out but that's it. Is the link I posted a good source for info? A bottle of ATF costs a buck or 2 while seafoam is $5+. If the ATF actually works better why would anyone use seafoam. Now I know that the seafoam tranny stuff works but the regular seafoam really didn't do much.

Has anybody verified that seafoam actually works by doing a before and after compression test?
