your torque will drop from about 180lb-ft to 120lb-ft.
from now on you'll feel like you're driving a stock civic.
now arent you pissed you ordered that intake?

Calm Down. It's a valid question. I don't think it is answered in the FAQs.

If it helps, on my 2k, I lost at least 0.2 seconds in the 1/8th mile with the underhood (Stillen type) intake versus the CAI. It loses a ton of low end over the CAI. I also did not see any gain in the top end versus the underhood intake. But, these comparisons are not versus the stock airbox.

I guess what I am getting at is that if you are going to change the intake, you should consider a CAI.

get an underdrive pulley to compensate.

why do they sell the stupid thing

i should just send it back. i though there was some good in the thing i guess its just for sound and not speed. I dont have the funds now to compensate for lost power. ill just get a drop in filter

This can't be a true statement. That's a dramatic loss in torque for just installing an intake! It's probably more like 180-170 or so, but -60! In any case, looks like I'll be ordering a CAI soon.

I believe that was sarcasm .. anyway, i believe the high end gains are more than adequate to compensate for any low end torque loss if any.. It's simply a matter of moving it further up the powerband.. no big deal. Intakes are meant to give power in the long run...get it you won't regret it, you'll also feel some increased throttle response. Overall it's not some huge thing, it's just an intake but it's a small difference, a necessary step on the way to bigger and better things.

Reading it again, it does sound like sarcasm.
But I really don't think an intake is a small thing, not to step on anyone's toes or anything, but when I first installed my intake, it made a huge difference in high end power. That's mainly because I had the y-pipe before I had an intake. But it does make a difference, like you said, it's a necessary step on the way to bigger and better things.

Before you take a side consider this -->

dyno data:
http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/caivssi.html

I have a JWT pop charger and have noticed that the low end is improved from the stock form.
I have quicker throttle response and seem to get to 3000 rpm fairly quickly compared to stock (I do however, also have a Y pipe). From 60 to 90 (and 100) I feel the car is even more responsive.
I use the Pop charger in the late Fall, winter and Early spring, then I switch to a CAI (for the infernal summer).
