Gauges?

Can someone please help =(... My friend recently tried installing gauge overlays in my maxima, but since they did not match up we did not put them in... But after that the needles for the tachometer and speedometer are sticking...is there anyway to fix this or should I just get a new gauge cluster... a friend of mine suggested resetting the computer but had told me to ask first can some one please help me...

So the gauges are in now? Did you use some double sided tape? I know overlays don't sit flat and will rub up against the needles. I would get some double sided tape on the back of the areas that stick up more. Be sure to use the double sided scotch tape.

did you unscrew the stock gauges? if so make sure they're all the way tightened. If not, just take the cluster back out and rub them down in the area where the needles are sticking. if that doesn't work, you may have another problem.

first you need to look closely as to WHERE they both are sticking once you have found that see if its something trivial give it an easy "push" and see if the needle floats past it. if not take the cluster out and look at it flat and see if the cluster has any "humps" in it. if it does and nothing is under it causing the humps then you most likely either bent the plastic in the cluster or your friend bent the needles (plastic also and most likely what happened) however since i cannot see your cluster and you provided no pictures it is only an educated guess backed with years of experience.

get your fingernail cutter and shave off the rear part of the needle near the center. the middle part of the needle is definetly touching the gauges. i spent a good 5 minutes shaving it off a bit and it worked fine.
