Gas mileage decrease with performance upgrade?

Does Gas mileage decrease along with performance Upgrades? Y-pip, B-pipe, headers, light weight pully, etc...?

How about those Turbo/Supercharged Maxima's?? How does your fuel economy compare to a N/A Max?

i would imagine the gas mileage would decrease as you run higher hp applications. Also consider the fact that you'll have less chance of resisting the urge to mash the gas pedal.

Bolt-on mods that "free" horsepower (by making the exhaust or intake path less restrictive, or underdriving the pulley) shouldn't decrease gas mileage in theory, since you are making the same amount of power, but just transferring more to the wheels instead of as waste. As Larrio said though, when you mod, you tend to hit the gas harder to hear the roar of your intake or the burble of your exhaust, so for all intents and purposes your gas mileage decreases.

Yup modifications decrease gas milieage. AS for me it was the case, after modding up my car went from 360miles to the full tank to 240 to the tank. I just recently installed hyper ground system, one of its benefits is increase gas mileage and it has. I tested out last week while on vacation, I didn't drive under normal conditions so i know i can hit more but I hit 320 miles to the tank before my gas light came on.,

I think with regular mods my car's gas mileage was about the same but ever since I got the s/c I can definitley notice a difference. :-)

in my experience, it has helped my mileage. i pretty much have the bolt ons besides a muffler (also run 93 octane) and 6 lbs lighter than stock wheels. i just took a trip to the beach where on the first half of a tank, i was able to get 220-230 on just half the tank. this includes a little bit of stop and go traffic in small towns, running triple digits twice and running one ricer. just to point out that i am not bragging, just saying that my mods have seemed to positively impacted my mpg despite my aggresive driving habits, one other person in the car, trunk full of luggage in 70 degree weather.

Basic mods help you gain mileage. A heavy foot decreases mileage. Big difference.

So what kind of gas mileage are you guys getting?

Between a pretty good tuned N/A Max and and supercharged/turbo Max?

Compare to a stock Max. Which runs 21-22 on local, 27-28 on highway.

but when I spray from about 30-90mph, I can watch my 1/2 tank go to less than a 1/4. It goes right back up, it's just kind of amusing

no they dont, is the way you drive your car is what decreases gas mileage. I am boosted and I get great gas mileage. Its all on how you control the throttle. If your in no rush to go no where your gas mileage should be more then fine. I know on the freeway I get 360miles to 3/4 of a tank.

Well I noticed the signifcant drop after I modded my car, whether i punched it or drove normal. My gas mileage decreased. So to convince me that the mods didn't drop my mileage some is gonna be a hard case to prove.
