I bought a 96se last fall and after I got it and washed it I noticed there were some "orangish" looking spots in the paint.

Its not very noticable, but they are there...throughout the paint everywhere on the car.

Did Nissan have problem with something in the paint that oxidized back then?

Has anyone else noticed this on their white max?

 

I also have a 96 white Maxima, but I don't seem to have that type of problem. Are they rust/oxidation spots or simply stains? If they look like stains, they could be marks caused by tar, bird droppings, or who-knows-what that contaminated your paint. I used to have a few spots from those things, but I removed them with a clay bar. However, I have no idea about the rust/oxidation issue. Hope it helps.

 

I have a 97 and see little organge-ish brown specs on my car. I took it the Nissan dealership to see what they could do, they washed the car and all the specs came off. I don't know what it is, but I don't think it's rust. If you scratch at it with your fingernail, it comes right off.
