Rings

And of course calipers. You’ll need the 30mm Z32 calipers because the 26mm calipers will run into a little clearance problem which I’m finding out the hard way. But I’ll get it solved just in case you have a pair of 26mm already

All the above pics were taken from other members in previous post. You’ll also need brake lines, pads and you’re done.

Yes, you MUST have proper brake lines. a few people think youcan get away with the stockers because they have the same thread pitch in them, but the Z caliper uses an inverted flare fitting while the OEM uses a banjo bolt.

nobody in their right mind would stick those two together.

1) To buy all the parts, it's about $500.
2) I run 17x8 rims and it clears. But you have to make sure off the spoke design as these (as with all bbk kits that use 4 piston calipers) need good clearance width wise
3) All of my brackets have been accounted for one way or another so Mike should be good to go.

The $500 seems too much, besides there are too many variables that dictate the total cost

I paid $75 for my useds Z32 calipers, but I've seen rebuild calipers for as much as $275. I paid $110 for my lines a few months back when I started this project, but I think I've seen them for under $100 now. Lets say $45 for bracket and $45 for rings. So lets round off everything on the high side

$100 used calipers
$125 lines
$50 brackets
$50 rings

That's $325, add the brake pads with the compound you want and that should come in way under $400.

Holy crap I totally forgot about adding the cost of the rotors, so here goes

$100 used calipers
$125 lines
$50 brackets
$50 rings
$60 for a pair of rotors, I'm taking OEM replacement rotors from your local parts store.

So that's $385.
IMO the only draw back going this route is that you have to do a little homework and shop around for various parts. Some folks would rather a "complete kit" mailed to their doors because they don't want to be bothered with shopping around, others don't mind the homework especially if it cuts the price down big time. You dont have to guess which one of those folks I am

Here's one for you. I just did a quick search and check this pic out

This pic shows a kit for the 240 to Z32 brake conversion. The kit includes four brakes lines. The front lines will work for our set-up and the rear lines "should" work just as long as the length is correct.

This is all part of the homework I'm refering to.

MIKE

EDIT: the rear might not be a "direct" bolt on for our cars becasue they don't have the fitting to secure them to the strut housing. It's all about the homework

Without being exactly sure I'm going to say no, not the 2004.
I would say look for Cobra rotors from 94-03.
I would go as far as to say get the 98 cobra rotors. No particular reason why, but just in case you have to go the Cobra rim route 98 is the year you're looking for.

Another quick homework search and I came across this DotOrg pic back in 2002

Some of yous might be thinking, no Ford part on my car. But I hope we've past that stage already. Besides when you're looking for a cheap alternative rim that will clear these are right up your alley.

Mike you make a good point, but people will always hate on 'Ford'...but whatever...GEO, I believe those rims should be ok...but I'm not sure...I'm thinking for some reason that you have to run a higher offset...like 42 or something?

i think you have it backwards the 35 offset sticks out more than 42 so i should have more clearance behind the wheels. Also the wheels where on a Mustang, dont know if it was a cobra though.

Just making sure you guys knew about this thread]

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=309648

I believe Jeff has already stated all his brackets are accounted for, so that means he'll probably need a minimum order the next time he place a order. But I'll let him varify that.

Get your rings now because this will be my last "GD" on the rings. The next time I offer the rings they will have a set price regardless of how many is ordered, and I will need a minimum amount ordered.

I know you've probably said it a thousand times already but what size tires are you using with the SVT rims? Also do you know the offset?

I run 245-45-17s as they are what came with the wheels. they were in excellent condition. They fit fine. Just a slight rub in the rears. Nothing 5 min with grinder on the rear wheelwell couldn't fix. Fronts are fine. Offset is I believe somewhere in the 30-32mm range. I can stick my finger inbetween the caliper and the inside of the wheel spoke. Very good clearance. 235-45-17s will be the size I use next.

I highly recommend using these brake lines. They eliminate the need for the little hard line that the 300z calipers use.
Note: These also don't have the support clips. But I used some clips with a rubber bushing. Front: used the existing abs 10mm bolt mount. Rears: drilled a hole in the rear suspension mount and used a sheet metal screw. It was actually not really needed for the rears. More of a piece of mind thing

You need adaptor brackets from me. $40+shipping. And you need the hub rings from candiman to center the rotors.
You will also need some ss lines. www.anplumbing.com
fronts: 63071020
rears: 63071520

These are for a 3-gen but should be fine for a 4th gen. The fronts are designed to eliminate the small hard line that pokes out of the Z caliper. But if you would rather use the 240 conversion lines, I have an extra front set for sale. $40 shipped.

I am having another 10 sets made. Only a few sets are spoken for. It should be maybe a week before I can get them ready. Let me know if anyone else is interested.

Note: I AM THE ONLY AUTHORIZED SELLER of these items. I am the only with with the drawing and the only one that confirm the dimensions. These brackets are not exactly a big money making venture. At $45 shipped it really can't be. If anyone else knows of anyone selling BLATENT COPIES of these things, I'd would greatly appreciate a notification. Using an unauthorized copy of something like this for your brake system is not recommended.

The Z32 calipers and shaved rotors will actually fit under stock 15's (3rd gen anyway) with a 20mm spacer, but there's really no reason for that. If you want to upgrade your brakes under 15's, get some good pads, SS brake lines, and some brembo blanks.

i just recently replaced both back calipers and pads. And my boy and i flushed the entire system out with new fluid and for whatever reason the brake pedal feels a little more soggy than it did before i touched the brake system. You think it could be air in the lines? or the brake lines are craop and i need SS ones?

How long has it been? It took my pedal about 100 miles to firm up after bleeding the brakes.
