got hit by a box truck, never saw him at all, and he just came up from behind and nailed me. Obviously 100% his fault, his insurance is covering it all, and mine wont be going up one bit. I'm bringing it down to the bodyshop in a few hours to get this sucker fixed ASAP. I just ordered rims 2 days before it happened too at least when I get it back it will be good as new, and with some new rims.

Rear quarter panel and lower bumper lip look repairable. You'll probably need a new trunk lid and bumper cover. Not too bad. Maybe a day or two worth of work once they get the parts.

At least your ok......the damage doesn't look that bad, but make sure they fix your car correctly and to your satisfaction!!!!!

sorry to hear that, now maybe when you get a new trunk, they might be able to shave your key hole..........is you're license plate sprayed with that no photo light spray, where if you take a picture it blurs out the plate, or did you cover using photoshop or something?

thanks guys, yeah will def need a new bumper, and trunk, and I am going to tell them to take off the badges for me, ill mention about the keyhole too. rear lip is salvageable just needs to be repainted, along with the left and right quarter panel.

on the side of my wheel well on the back bumer i had a scratch/chip on there since I bought the car, so im glad that will be gone, i also had a little crack on my left tail light from when I got it, and ill be getting new tail lights so that will be gone too.

one thing im worried about is the paint. anyone know if they get like the bumper and trunk painted already, or do they paint it themselves? I got my front and rear lip painted there, and they didn't get an exact match on those, i dont want my trunk and bumper etc a different color white (damn pearl paint) i know they fade it and stuff.

and yeah turdlett, im gonna be keeping the rims for winter

sorry to say but you have one of the hardest colors to match.but it shouldn't be bad because your gonna get the whole section painted
much easier to match than just painting one piece.

hmmm, i had a VERY similar accident. i got a new trunk lid, and bumper cover, go them painted along with my body kit for $700. Pretty good deal but it was out of my pocket cuz there was no other party. They did a good job matching the paint, cuz they just used computerized paint matching + my color code. Make sure your place doesn't do matching by eye...it's virtually impossible to do on white pearl paint. I did the install and labor on my own, which took me about two days.. since you're going through the other guy's insurance you won't have to deal with that.

The pics are down right now so i can't tell if you do, but I had some minor damage to the body area under the trunklid. A big mallet took care of that.

hes just saying it to delay the inevitable, there was NO stop sign. he just wants to give it a shot at fighting it, and you know his insurance company is happy to oblidge, he did hit me from behind, and it will be all his fault, just sucks i have to wait through more BS :/

they know that ********** is wrong. they just dont want to be sued cause you were hit from the back. the same thing happened to me. they just want to make you wait so hopefully you will be too exhausted to fight them and take what they offer. they could prolong this a while. no matter what he hit you from the back regardless cause there is a law that states you have the right to stop at anytime for any reason. he is suppose to be a safe distance at all times. you know what sue em. go to the doctor and make them pay for all your headaches.

other then the body kit - about $3700 worth of damage here....new trunk, pumber inside bumper support....the most important thing is to be able to fix the curve around the light....

Had this happen to my ex-gf once, who is also from LI - she called up the lady's insurance company and appealed. She told them that it's a moot investigation. Stop sign or no stop sign - you got hit from the back, not at the sides. I hate it when these morons try to pull sh*t like that on you. They admit fault, and then turn it around the next day by denying it. I've had that happen too, when some old hag clipped my front bumper in the city as I was pulling out of my parking space. She stopped, so I assume she wanted my space, I went and all of a sudden she goes and hits me. She took the blame, and the next thing I know my insurance soars over something that wasn't even my fault.

Those pics of your car make me weep, though. You have one of the best looking Maxs on the org, and I've seen it around Long Island on a couple of ocassions. What a shame.

Find THE BEST bodyshop around and you won't have to worry about paint matching and whatnot. Your bumper reinforcement might be arched... if so, that will be replaced as well. I'm not sure about the 5th gen, but for the 4th if you look underneath the car around the bumper area, you can see the reinforcement bar. Look to see if there's arch or any bend in it. Usually if it hits those, it causes the quarter panel to buckle. Good thing it looks like the damage was hit at an angle... only 1 side.

I'd say trunk lid, light, bumper, quarter panels will have to be replaced... dunno about the condition under the panels. As for painting, they will most likely blend the paint into your rear door. So it'd be all those replacement parts plus the rear door
