its not a maxima, but a subaru... but its an emergency.

The engine is not cranking because the starter sounds like its stuck. It will make one turn and then a terrible clicking noise. I've tried jump starting the car because the lights are dim and the windows roll up/down slowly, but it still has that loud clicking noise.

any suggestions?

 

Larry take a pole or your car club or something firm. Try tapping/hitting the starter about 6x this should jolt it and if it is the starter it should now start. I did this many of times with bad starters.

 

Smack the starter with a wrench. Maybe it siezed.

 

hmm... I tried that and now the car doesn't respond at all.

could be that the battery is completely dead since there are no electrical functions now. Also, you can hear a weird long murmur/winding/clicking noise from the interior of the car when you attempt to start it. But no noise from the engine whatsoever

 

It's your battery dude.

 

I agree, batt is gone. A fast clicking sound is a symtom of a weak batt and now its dead so u not being able to boost it explains why.

 

try a push start...? i dunno im probly talking out my butt.
