Interesting Intake, what do you think about this unique type?
As far as underhood temps, I am continuing to monitor the temp with my Berk. Around town, running 5-10 degrees above ambient. On turnpike at 70mph, only 4 degrees above. As long as you are moving, temps seem fine.

Yep, totally true. The problem is when you come to a stop, the underhood temps will soar dramatically and it typically takes 1-2 minutes of above 40mph driving to clear the hood of extreme temps. The hot temps, while stopped or slowly moving, is what gives the VQ boggy performance in stop and go traffic. The CAIs don't suffer from this problem because the intake is always getting much cooler air. At the track, assuming the car hasn't had to wait in line long and the engine is cool, the underhood intake should perform just as good as the CAI. Around town though, the difference is pretty clear.

hey dave i dont know why you dont beleive me. ihave no real reason to lie. i understand that some people know alot more than i do but i am studying to become a mechanical engineer at new jersey institute of technology. i only have a yr and a half to go left. i dont claim to be the smartest M.E. on earth but i feel that i know enough to vioce my opinon. if you look on my website you will see a yellow 1997 bwm m3 in some of those pics and he is the one that lent the obd2 tool with the initial idea to pull my codes but we ended spending time in my car downloading more programs which he tested out after we cleared my then never ending knock sensor code. i drove while he got maney different reading and one of them was my intake temp. i dont understand y u think im lying about the matter but thats up to you.
Also for a car to hydro lock u need to have the filter completly submerged in water so that no more air can be sucked in and the the engine would be able to draw in the heavier water. before i lowered my car i had to drive my car up to the middle of my tire to even come close to fully submerging the filter. regardless of the filter and the hydro lock issues i and i dont think that any other person should be driving through deep bodies of water.
And for the amount of piping i said the place racing or the injen cai. and thats for those cars that actually use that not our maximas. they have different engine layout and thus need different amounts of piping for the cai that was shown in the pic. but i dont kno how long the one in the pic is and if u do post the measurements so that we could compare the lengths.
thats just wat i have to saw on the subject....i still dont understand how u label me as a liar even though before this i never spoke to u. when u said u tested you car i didnt come out and call you a lair. i respected wat u had to say and i just assumed that u would do the same.

wat makes it fake? it gets cold air from the front of the car and some people confuse it wit an ic? people confuse tranny coolers wit ic and i dont see people stop using those things. u cant get colder air from any other place then where that "fake one" as you call it is gonna get its air. stop judging this or any product if u dont have any proof on it.
use that common sense to kno that when dealing with performance parts its only numbers that determine if somethin is worth getting and not your hand feeling test.
i honestly wonder how some people become mods on this forum...
Use what you want to use. I don't care. But I'll give my opinion where I please just like you do.
I wasn't saying any of my last post to anyone but dave. And to all the people that i have offended by not use proper punctuation then i'm sorry. I never knew that one of maxima.org's rules were to always use punctuation.
I never tried to get anyone to buy an injen or whatever type of intake the one in the first thread is, i just didn't like hearing people bad mouth a product that i have and i felt that i should stand behind it.

Good point.
It's also a courtesy. If one doesn't make an effort to use proper English, why should anyone take the time to reply? If I have to sit here and diagnosis your sentences, forget it.

+1. I was working to be a Marine Engineer myself. I don't know how many times it was stressed about written/oral communications skills in my classes. If it's your style to write that way, good luck trying to debate with some of these guys on this board. I had a real hard time understanding your points....and they are probably good points, but I can't understand them. As for the Injen argument....I can understand standing by the mod....I can't understand how you think you can argue against 3-4 people, and your the only one supporting it. Sounds almost like a battle not worth trying to win.

Sometimes the battle isn't always about winning, I just wanted my voice to be heard. And to all the people that read my post i do feel kinda bad about how i type. I normally get to my pc after a very long day at work or in summer school and i'm back and forth with the forum and aim. I type so bad when i'm tired but it seems thats when I only feel like replying to some of the posts i read. And as for the injen on its ablility to work, me and some of my college buddies looked at my car and didnt think that the injen would work due to how the piping is bent around otherwise normally hot parts of the engine. That's why we hooked up the odb2 to my car and my friends m3 and i was more shocked then any of them when my car pulled the lowest temp numbers. but then again the problem with that test is that i didnt have a maxima that had a different setup then mine to get a proper comparision to see if i should be happy about the numbers my car got. Once i get my car back i'll pull some numbers and we can then put this debate to rest.
Ohh and at my school we get nailed all the time about how we should always use proper puntuation.
will

I can't believe that you guys are killing each other over this "Issue" with Injen Intake?!
How about someone just send Injen Corp. an E-mail regarding this issue and see what they say?
Personally, i have Injen and doesn't regret having it, I love the sound and the feedback it gives me while I drive. Even if it only gives me like 2HP?!
