I have been looking into getting the JIC FLTA2 setup but everywhere I look on the web is extremely expensive. I know this isn't a cheep setup but I would just like to know where I can get the best price.

I just got this car 3 months ago, the last Maxima I had was an auto GXE so I honestly did not have too much interest in it becaust I felt I was already a step behind everyone else so I never really modded it. if you want to see why I got rid of it look on page two of my homepage.

I would go for TEIN Basic for under $800. JIC FLT A2 is highly overpriced and overrated. Own a set and find out the hard way

Really? I have talked to a couple of guys that own them and say they're great. I guess it all comes down to personal preference....

How do you figure this? Besides the EDFC option on teins, it's got nothing on jic's besides being more stiff.

TEIN Basic for the 95-99 is only height adjustible (no dampening or EDFC compatible). I'm not saying that its the best coilover system out there, I'm just saying for less than $800.. it's best bang for the buck given what is currently available in the market.

Ofcourse everyone who forked over $1600 for JIC FLT A2 will tell you it's the best out there. There's pride factor involved

No one will tell you that:
1) there is no built-in dustcover to protect the shaft from exposure to debris.
2) The springs aren't rust proof as they should be.
3) To adjust dampening, one must reach behind the wheel rather than over the top. That's just impractical IMO.
4) JIC customer service is POS. This is a known fact to industry vendors as well as customers. Ofcourse, you won't know that until you have to deal with them on behalf of customers who needs to replace their blown strut.

I've seen other coilovers (HKS Hipermax, TEIN Flex etc.) that cost around the same price for other cars and its a dam*n shame that we're overpaying for a JIC FLT-A2 and not get a better overall design of the product.

Ange, how stiff would you say that the new TEIN coilovers are?

lets put it this way, for a 2" drop, and seeking the best ride quality possible, would you rather go with tein basic coilovers or illuminas +s techs?

These factors are mostly only apparent on mcpherson style suspension.. JIC for other cars has top mounted adjustment ***** and dust covers. However, if you pay $1600 for suspension I would think you would take more care of keeping it and the rest of your car clean enough to never have to worry about rust being an issue. All things metal rust over time if not taken care of. Granted the customer service thing is not forgivable.

Tein's are great and HKS is uber adjustable, but for the design, quality and overall adjustability/comfortability JICs are the way to go imho (now having them on 2 cars).

Specifically, the rust occurs at the top of the spring where it meets the camber plate. I thought the purple coating on the spring is suppose to keep it from rust agents.

I've only had the JICs on the Max for less than 6 months. During which the Max spent most of the time in the garage because I use the Si as my daily commuting car. Maybe it has to do with Northeast winter, maybe its poor design

Ange is her name. As far as I know, the Tein comes with much softer springs than JIC. At 2" drop, I guess the Tien will be more comfortable. But one thing Tein basic lacks is strut body adjustability and that's the most important feature I look for in a coilover. Anyway, I'm really interested in the D2/Ksport coilovers that suppose to be out. I might jump on a group deal for the Ksport in couple weeks. You get all the features of JIC FLT-A2 but 1/2 of the price.

you guys are all talking about the tein basic, not the flex version right?

cause the tein flex has everything the jic a2's have except the upper pillow ball mount.... unfortunately for 5th gens only IIRC

After paying big bucks for the jics i have begind to pay more attention to the claenliness of the suspension. Likewise, the A1's have adjustment at the top for the front and rear. I am very pleased with them and i decided against the teins because they dont allow you to lower by shortening the entire strut. That was my MAIN reason.
