Not sure if theres thread on this, if so some one let me know and i'll try to find it.
But i'm just curious as to what company you guys/gals are insured with. Whats is your experience with them (past/present) And would you recommend them to a fellow Orger?
Thanks
Shawn

I wouldn’t have insurance…it costs way too much, it’s very inconvenient and overall, it’s just a bad experience for many drivers. So if I were you, I would just go without it!
Seriously though, there was a thread on this a few weeks ago. There were opinions on everything from Progressive to Geico. I personally have never used those two companies, but I have received a few outrageous quotes from them. I use Grange insurance, which provides the cheapest I can find for myself (an 18 year old driver).
So you may “manually” search through all of the pages to see what you can come up with, or just keep bumping this up until you get enough replies.

I have progressive but am shopping around. Basically they're the cheapest untill you're 25 (next year for me). I always paid in full for the year to get a big discount.
My '88 buick was $440 year max coverage ($390 min) even with a speeding ticket. Jumped to $950/year for my 04 Max. Would be $840 but all Insur. went up this year.
Might switch to State Farm if they will match my price and it will lower next year.... if I stay away from flashing lights.

Well the cheapest offer igot so far is 337/ month. Geico want 3350 for 6 months, Progressive wants 5440 for 6 months and state Farm i have to call, they don't do over the net quotes.
Thanks for the replies more are welcome.

liberty mutual ~$320 every 6 months for basic liability and glass. btw i'm 18 and have no tickets (that they kno of anyhow
) Dont ask how i'm paying this little cause i dont have a clue either...
before i had AAA and they charged me ~$670 for 6 months... then one day they decided to raise it to ~$1300 for 6 moths...

I think they charge me that high because i now starting out on my own (insurance wise) before my 89 max was under my Bro's name and i was paying $200 a month, which was not bad.
But now i have too many bills to pay to do 324/month.
I'll try Liberty and see what happens

well, state farm($1470) couldn't match progressive, maybe when i'm 25. $950/year gives me full coverage with limited tort. I get a -$125 pay in full discount & high credit score helps. When I added my Max, it would of been $833 this past year, but all insur. went up.
For all you military people out there, USAA is all I got to say. 25, no tickets, I pay 81 a month for full coverage 100$ deductable and I have renters insurance also so it would actually be cheaper if I didnt have that. So if your in the military or family is get em to hook you up. Oh I live in San Diego so everything cost a ot out here. Oh and they quoted me a price to add a 2002 GSXR 750, 18 bucks extra on my insurance. GOtta love em
I notice there aren't a lot of californians on this one. Lets try this for example
20 yrs old male
State min coverage
950$ every six months
Highest gas/insurance
All californians please bend over and assume the position!

I'll try and answer the questions that you actually asked.
I've used Allstate to cover homes, motorcycles & cars. They are not the least expensive however whenever I've had a claim thery have always come through quickly & efficiently. For me that's an important aspect. I have insured with them on both coasts in NY and here in Seattle.
How much YOU are going to pay depends on many things:
Age single/married/student
the actual car itself
what other insurance coverage you have with that particular company.
Here is an interesting tid bit When I bought my 03 used this past January I was also looking at a 95 vette. The insurance (same full coverage) would have actually been $50.00 less per year for the Vette LOL.
No point in telling you my particular rates as my age and status is probably much different than many of you.

Here's what i got from allstate today. Below is what i choose after searching and evaulating for 20 minutes.
Bodily Injury Liability : $50k/100k
Supp. Unisured motorist: same as above
Property Damage Liability: $25k
Automobile Medical: $5k
Mandatory Personal Injury Protection: $200 deductible
Collision: $2k deductible
Comprehensive: $2k deductible
Comes out to 2k for 6 months, which is about $333.33/ month
Keep in mind i'm in my young 20's, insuring 95 and this is the first time i'm putting insurance under my name.
My question is for a first time insurer is this too much or did you guys pay less at first.
P.S. good points there Peabody

I have State Farm for my insurance. Have been with them since I started driving when I was 16, turn 24 in a couple weeks. They have been very easy to deal with and when I totaled my previous car were very promt in handling things. I have heard I could probably get cheaper but to me spending a couple hundred a year more for insurance is worth it if you can have peace of mind they will come through when ya need it. With State Farm they have also always been very upfront about ways to lower insurance, for instance when I was living in Denver I got renters insurance which gave me a multipolicy discount, the renters insurance for a year was cheaper then the saving from the discount, therefore by getting it I not only got renters (which is good to have) but the amount for my car + renters was less then car alone.
200 every 3 months with state farm. Of course it is from SC and that's where I'm insured now. Thats great for a nearly 18 year old thats listed as a driver for 3 other cars and two other people. I'm one of the lucky ones

do you guys pay for full or limited tort? I think PA may be one of the few with the option to go limited. Has to do with how much you can sue someone. and what kind of deductibles? guessing 500 for most people
That is way TOO much

Maybe where you live but many states, insurance is required in order to register your car.
I have Liberty Mutual. Only thing I don't like is that they have dedicated collision shops. I should be able to take my car into a shop of my choice.

Progressive is cheapest for under 25.
Erie is awful!!!!
Their age break is 24 (me) but refuse me (clean record over 3 years) since my MAX is:
"a performance car."
No ****. What, I'm supposed to buy a POS that won't cost you anything if I actually need the insurance we all pay you year after year? If you are "young," or ever had any ticket/accident, or nice car, or even if you have a loss from vandalism (how is that your fault?), or not at fault accident, ERIE will refuse you or make you feel grateful
and insure you as high risk. If you already have them and any of this occurs, they threaten to drop you and rocket your premiums. So we need to be perfect drivers to have your insurance? Silly me, I thought we paid all that $$$$ to insuance co. in case something may happen, since it is very possible someday it will?????
Summary, (sorry so long) ANYTHING is better than ERIE even 1-800 SAFE AUTO.
