Can a cat missing the bottom plate still pass inspection?
While driving today, half of the bottom plate of my cat came loose. I eventually just kicked the entire piece off since I couldn't stand the rattling.
I'm curious right now if it's possible to pass inspection in it's current state. My inspection date isn't until September, but if it's not going to pass the way it is now, I might have to look into buying a new one. I was hoping to throw on a test pipe until the inspection date before this happened, so maybe I'll just go with that idea & either buy a cat to be placed back on when inspection time rolls around or find a way to get a loaner.

They've never even looked under my car at inspection so I can't say much about it, but they shouldn't have a problem with it as long as it passes emissions. just tell them it was knocked off when you hit a chunk of shredded tire in the road. they usually could care less as long as it works.

Thanks for all the responses.
I don't believe they've ever checked the underside of my car during the inspection process, but I wasn't sure if that piece contributed to the general operation of the cat. Guess not.
