Gas Efficiency Improvement

Does anyone have any tips on how i can improve my gas efficiency other than a tune up? My 93 max is running about 10 miles/gallon. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

-thanks

Are you up on your maintenance (30K, 60K, etc)?

stay off the gas! use some seafoam in your vacumm line. it will not yeild exciting resukts, but could help! do spark plugs, and run some fuelk injector cleaner. those are the cheapies.

Silly question,

How do you know your Knock sensor is in Safe mode?

If its in safe mode, how do you get it back to normal mode?

Thanks alot

you know by checking your codes (won't turn on the light). Here's how: http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html. If it's bad you'll have to replace it (read the 4th gen faqs for a how to).

holy crap 10 mpg? I just drove up to Boston yesterday... 220 miles each way and I averaged 25 mpg.. and that included about 6 freeway WOT romps on the highway upto 120... around the city here I get about 18mpg...

It really sounds like your knock sensor is toasted
