Where should I look to get a good paint job? And how much do they cost?

oh god.. perhaps I should FAQ this :)>>>

a "good" paint job... well lets see. .lots of variables..
are we talking a total color change? or just the factory color? what color of paint?? (some.. such as pearls require 3 steps to complete and cost more for paint and labor).. the BEST place to get the BEST paint job?? Look around at a local hot rod show.. pick out the cars you think have the cleanest paint jobs... now ask the owners where they got them painted. People who spend $$$ on cars that are meant to be driven only when the weather is nice don't skimp on paint... old rodders hang outs tend to produce the best paint jobs... thats my $0.02... if you got more questions or more detail.. then post away

Ummm...

Sorry..I should have been more clear. I'm still a novice when it comes to cars...but I like to think that I'm at least a decent driver. =) Anyway...I've got a '93 SE that's blue right now...but I would like to change the color to either white or black. Would it be easier to change to black since it would be a darker color than the one it has now or does it not make a difference? Also, I'm willing to pay about $1000 maybe a little more depending. I looked up several places..but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place that doesn't charge and arm and a leg.

It's not that I hate the color it has now...but I've neglected my car for so long that it could use a fresh coat at the very least.

Also, would they strip off the existing color first before painting or just paint over it?

Thanks!

Bottom line is you get what you pay for. Peach is cheap, and they do a crappy job. A good body shop will offer you a lifetime warrantee on peeling, gaurantee no defects in the paint, and put a pretty good hole in your pocket. One thing to do is to go to body shops in your area and ask to look around at the shop and see some cars that have just been painted. Most body shops will let you do this and you can see how good a job they do.
