okay here's the deal..
my two years plus driven i have only owned maxima's and my cousin always had this pos jeep.

like a year ago when i had my 92 max he bought a 93 Q45
so he had the faster car..
Now... i got my 95 SE

He has no mods all he did was take all the silencers off the airbox and drill some extra holes in it so its now louder than a max with a pop intake
he's also got 123K miles on it
however he's a mechanic and he's cleaned every inch of the motor ..i.e. hoses intake ports .. hoses.. whatever
ME:
95 Max SE
95K miles..
0 mods... waaaa waaaaa waaaa sob sob sob...

anyway i don't wanna lose cuz i'll never hear the end of it ...

BTW:
his car brand new runs 1/4 in 15.4
he ran 1/4 with 17" rims in 15.8
93 Q45 = 278 hp .. 290 lb.ft... its one fast ****
my car is auto so is his

Oct. 7 etown is when we'll race but if there's no chance
i'll beat him i'm not gonna bother...

Thanx

Okee.. Considerations.. He is RWD.. This is a big advantage to him at the track. I'm gonna say if you get a perfect launch.. and he bogs a bit.. You have a chance to beat him in the 1/4 mile. Make sure you shift the car manually. You should go invest in a y-pipe and intake.. But if you were to race him on the highway.. Get ready for the Q45 to walk by you.

don't worry

Since you have a 95 model you should be fine. If he runs 15.8 all the times then you have a good chance to beat him by few tenths of a second. I went to E-town a little while ago for the very first time w/ just a CAI and with extremely worn OEM Toyo tires. I ran 3 times and the times were 15.4, 15.4 and 15.3. Just leave it in 2nd gear then torque brake no more than 2000RPM and manually shift. I hope this helps. Good luck and represent=)

thanx

Okay
one thing ..
this time he's takin his old 15" rims to the track to run with that means he'll be runnin less then 15.8
I need a CAI
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... help ...
okay okay time to order one i don't care if it costs me more i can't lose to him...
Zumble: we've both driven each others cars many times..
i know he'll walk me on the highway ..
he kept up with a eclipse that ran 14.4 once on a highway race he's just got no power off the line..

Neo: exactly when did u shift at when it it 6K rpm..?
shift meaning bang the shifter into "D" with the OD off..

it really doesn't matter the fwd/rwd/awd or hp-weight ratio or certain trapspeed should lead to certain ET, blah blah(ok i will stop before people think i'm taking shots at someone)
As long as you are sure he runs 15.8, then you should be able to take him. i believe your '96se should run better than 15.8 in stock form.

Ants just leave it in 2nd gear w/ OD off and torque brake to 2k then slam the gas pedal as soon as the light before the last one comes on and manually shift to "D" before it hits 6k. I am no drag expert but I believe that even w/o the CAI you should be able to pull about 15.4-6 if you get a decent launch. If you get the CAI, I recommend you to take out the left front fog lamp for extra cool air.
Keep your front tires 26 or 25psi and you'll get some good grip. Also, do your best to run at E-Town w/ as little gas as possible. Remember 1 gallon of gas is equals to 8 lbs.

BTW, I had 98SE 16's on so w/ your 15's you should do a little better than me.
Let me know how it goes dude.

I think drive wheels will make a difference if the FWD car has never been to a track before.. There is an easier chance that he will just spin his tires. The RWD car could just go all out on the launch.. That would be the difference. AWD is actually really hard to launch. If you dump the cluch you get a really violent jerk that would probably throw you off.. You would have to slip the clutch.. And thats not all that great for the car because the car will either bog or you will start frying clutch. Either way.. If they both get a good lauch it should be close.

woodear: I went with him 3 months ago .. it was a cool night too and me and him iced his intake for 2 hours b4 racing..
he ran 15.8, 15.9, 15.8..and he brake torqued it perfectly the last run..

Well just for added insurance
i just ordered the CAI from cattman...
geez hope it gets here b4 Oct. 7 (etown meet day)
i don't care if i have to install it at etown..

well the showdown is on ...

the thing is he drove my car and swears its slower than his car....
we'll just have to see about that ....
