SMR: (sorta maxima related) Security Light on/no start/2003 pathfinder

2003 Pathfinder.........no start, cranks. security light is on while cranking. Im guessing the SECU/factory alarm is enabled, or somehow while installing remote start something got fubared. Full remote start/security system was installed, along with an immoblizer bypass. Now when my friend tries to start the car, it cranks, no start, and the security light stays on. Any ideas? I know there was a thread about this before for a maxima, but i cant search.

IIRC
-must go to nissan to reprogram computer to accept keys.....
-reset ECU?

help.

I think you are right on both of those. When the remote start was installed, they would haven needed to initialize an extra key. When this is done, all of the keys need to be initialized. I am not sure what the procedure is to do this, but I will try to find out when I go to work on monday.

Did the installer put a spare key into the alarm to make the immobilizer to work? As far as I know this is the only method to bypass the immibilizer. That's the reason it does not start.
Another theory is that some wiring got fuked up and the pulse from the key chip is not going thru to the alarm brain...
I say call the dealer and ask them nicely, I am sure they've dealth with this before. Was it a decent install shop? If yes, THEY should call the dealer or Nisssan NA and make it work...otherwise tell them to put everything back together and take it elsewhere.

well........its an installer who took home a job cuz it was a friend. They used a viper remote start system, and they did use spare key in the DEI immoblizer, and a transmitter ring was placed around the key solenoid. But no start, they unplugged the alarm, to no avail. He will be taking it to nissan, but just wondered what the cause was and/if there was an alternative to getting it to start.
