auto tranny problems

i think my tranny is dieing on me

i was parked on the hill, and when i shifted into a reverse the car didn't move, it felt like it was in the N, i shifted into P then went back to R, it still didn't move... so I just steped on the gas... it jerked back like crazy! i got home, and now it works fine... is the tranny going bad soon?

Thanks
Serge

The bushing is less than 5 bucks at the dealership. Crawl under the car and take out the heat shield above the cat, You should see the shift linkage and you'll see the plastic bushing and how to remove it. Should only be a 15-20min job. If that's not the problem, you're only out 5$ and 20min of time.

Make sure that the car is cold. The catalytic convertor is one of the hottest parts of the car.
