Used maxes with high miles

Theres a used max right near me which I checked out today (I will be test driving it in a few days once my parents arrive back home). It's a 5sp SE 1999 in mostly really good condition (besides a few minor things.. hood hydrolics aren't working well, driver side door, light on driver side door won't turn on when you open the door), stock, sunroof, spoiler, silver. But it has 130k miles. Do you guys think I can still get a good dealof car from this? His list price is 7k, which I think I can bargain down a bit. I met the guy he is really nice and said all the miles were from highway driving to work and back. He just got a new TL, it looked really awesome.

A good deal?

Thanks,
Dan

I am sure the car might be fine, but I would be inclined to check around some more and find one with fewer miles on it. It may well be mostly highway miles because that's quite a few for a car that is less than six years old.

Judging from its a 99, and it has 130k miles, I would bet most of those miles would be highway..

Wow...you guys consider 130k high mileage? :P These cars (2nd-4th gen at least) have been proven good to go 300k or more.

I'm not disputing that Sarin, but if he could find one at the right price with under 100K on it (and with a good % of overall highway miles), perhaps he would be better off. Given that the car isn't six years old yet (don't know when it left the lot), average driving would bring the mileage closer to 70,000 miles. I am going by the old 12,000 mile a year stat, rather than 15,000 which I consider to be high.
