Passed Inspection with Y and Catz Hi/Lo kit

And for the second year in a row, they didn't test my exhaust reading. They didn't even hook up to my ECU. Is this regular practice on newer cars or something?

At one point, I thought they were jacking up the side of my car to see if the precat was still on the car but they just checked my front end to make sure it was tight. [sweated a little at this point]

You lucky dog! Sometimes inspection is quite simple at other times dyno and everything checked. Haven't had a problem with the mods on the Maxima for a long time.

FYI just becareful with the exhaust. There is a look out for loud exhaust around the Boston area. Any shop selling a loud exhaust can be fined.

I go for inspection next month. I gotta change my bulbs to orange and hope they don't try and jack my car to check the precats as well.

if my car fails again, I'm driving it off a cliff!

Well, I guess Lou's will be out of business soon because they install loud exhausts and do inspections.

sounds like Arizona. Inspections here are a joke. They don't check for anything on newer cars. I guess they just figure it should work

I once got **** from an inspector on my fog lights. They worked, but both lenses were cracked. I think the dude was just trying to be a ***** though. Either way, to make a long story short, I told him, both lenses were sealed with a Glass sealant and if he took the time to notice the cracks he should of taken the time to notice they were sealed. A little surprised and slightly ****ed, he gave me my dam sticker so I could be on my merry way.

Some of these guys think you have to kiss there A$$ to pass these inspections......not the kid.

To be honest, I don't think it even matters if your fogs are cracked or not. He was just trying to be funny, Im sure.

geez i feel sorry for you guys who have to deal with inspections. AZ doesnt have them simple as that. my friend's truck has 1 taillight and 1 headlight, none of his guages work, and it leaks gas because the gastank's rusted... yet it passes emissions (somehow) every year and he's on his merry way

Ha. In Wisconsin, only the Milwaukee metro area even HAS inspections. We don't have to deal with inspections everrrrrrrrr.

Oregon is like that, too. The major metro areas have to go through DEQ (Dept. Environmental Quality) for emisssions, but out here in the sticks, anything goes as long as it doesn't pi$$ off the cops.

Part of the reason I got a good deal in the Mustang GT I had is because the previous owner installed an off-road H pipe eliminating the cats. He lived in Portland and when I bought it, it had expired tags.

It they are located in Boston then they better watch out. It's those cheap knockoff exhaust that made it noisy on the streets. Just like those cheapy HID kits killed the retrofit kits.

Im in Ma and im kinda scared my car isn't going to pass emission. I have a 95 and I heard they test them like it is obd-1 and not do a ecu check. I have an 03-02 code (egr). Can I still pass if my emission is low or is the code going to fail me? First year for emission testing in my max, thats why im asking. Car has y, intake, and catback. Another dumb question, do I have to replace the intake with the stocker when I get the testing?

I would see about getting the EGR fixed before you do inspection. I'm not sure if they are going to do an inspection with your car, since its ODB-I, but you never know. As far as your I/Y/E is concerned, do you have a resonator on your exhaust? If not, they will fail you just by the sound. I ended up getting a resonator welded in and they passed me without probs.

Also, if you have the d/c lenses (or any other clear lenses for that matter), make sure you have all amber all around. They will fail you for that as well now I hear.

Also, I may not have to worry about inspection this coming up August, for other plans may go into effect tomorrow night

You can actually pass inspection as long as you put the side amber lenses back on instead of the whole assembly. Inspection needs an amber side marker in the front and a red side reflector for the rear.

Thats interesting because I was told by my mechanic at Marlboro Nissan that as long as I have amber lights in the lenses, I'll be fine. Oh well...

It shouldn't even matter of those types of things are aftermarket or not, just as long as the color of the light itself is legal under state law regarding such types of things. Up here in MA, your supposed to have amber all around, regardless of lense color (hence why some accords and WRXs can have clear with amber lights, why can't we?), but I also see people rocking the hyperwhites. I'm probably gonna put all amber in my fronts anyways, the hyperwhite thing is getting boring to me...
