Bada$$ body kits
Another coilover option
Another forced induction option
Projector lights

These are a few things that would be fun to research for the MAx.

I'm working on the badass body kit part. We'll see how that goes.

Some device to firm up the crap steering the Maxima is blessed with. Either a new power-steering pulley or steering gear would be nice.

Now that I think about it, I think the best potential performance mod for the 4th gen VQ would be a 5th gen intake manifold kit. We need to find out a way to get the 5th gen manifold to bolt up or get something made. I know it sounds really expensive, but I think this would be a serious bang for the buck mod. The 5th gen manifold gives the VQ it's ability to make power to 6500rpms instead of the 4th gens 5800rpm. The 5th gen manifold makes nearly the same torque, but makes about 20 fwhp over the 4th gen. I'd say that's pretty significant. Teamed with the 4th gens lighter weight, the 4th gen has the potential to hit 13s NA.

The problems I see are:

-does the 4th gen have the fuel system to support this?
-how can you mount the 5th gen manifold on the 4th gen?
-what are you gonna use to open short runner butterflys? (a shiftlight rpm setup could work)

this cannot be said enough times... projection headlights are a must... if I had to name the single biggest problem with the maxima is the fact that I can't see anything at night even with 80/100 headlights...

but if you just want to tinker with electronics then it would be most excelent if you could figure out how to make all the windows and sunroof one-touch (currently this is very expensive to buy the module, but it must only be something stupidly easy to mod.

Lets be realistic here....

Projector lights would really be great, or a new coilover set up. Not dissing Cattman but his kit is really expensive. And I've heard a few complaints about rear shocks breaking?!?!
How about a coil-over kit that could be adapted to existing struts, Koni (prefferably), or Tokico. And lets not forget about headers this can take off if we get a quality piece made. What about cams??? I think this may help our Max's breathe more freely in the upper rev range. I like Dave B's idea about 5th gen intake manifold, but it may prove too pricey for some of us. And what about a new form of boost for the Max, maybe a turbo?

For now though lets focus on projector lights, cams, headers, or new-coilovers. I think these would be easy sold. So many of us wants at least one of the above.

Well, I personally would like to see new bodykits. I am sick of seeing the $tillen aero kit on every Maxima. It's about as played out as altezza's...hehe

Cams/cam gears would also be EXCELLENT. If the headers were produced, I would buy them, if they were under $800, made with good material, and made by a highly regarded company.

Thats my input...

-Dave B's swap thingy
-HID Projectors
-And a new type of sticker that produces 20 horses to the wheels, this 5 HP a sticker isn't cutting it anymore.

i had an idea for the projector head lights a while ago. the a6 headlight housing is kinda similar to ours, i was thinking of retro-fitting them to the lense piece of our 97 headlights, but the back be the a6's..

as for coilovers,

TIEN makes coilover for the cefiro over in japan. just need to make sure you can port them directly over to see if they fit the maxima...

as for new wings, i have a adjustable one in mind, that i might build.. mwuahahha..

but body kits? huh. we dont want to look like totally gawdy with huge flared fenders and a gigante kombat wing... we need something subtle...

hmm..

body kits - a mild update to the Stillen version will be good enough

forced induction - not much options out there due to the limited space in the engine compartment. But I think ppl generally agree that it is time for a more reliable and affordable SC kit.

The forth Gen needs a front lip that' more than just a lip. I've been working on this idea where the 3 air openings under the bumber extend another 6" to give it that big mouth scoop effect that some other imports have. It's actually similar to the Zero add with the Lexus. Subtle in design, but makes the car look mean and tight as hell! I'll have to post a pic...

Post a pic, or email it to me, I am interested in how that would look. You would probably need a a full kit to compliment it.

Red and clear tails (tired of making them myself; cleaner, more factory look),
Projection headlights (Cool Look, Retrofit HID without losing high beams, brighter than 9004),
Z3 fenders or better hood (Just looks cool),
Another forced induction option (SC is too expensive!)

one thing that would be cool is, struts with cartridges. you know the kind that could be replaced, without taking the strut off. like porshe's.

Aren't you getting nitrous? Then it would be a really good idea to get ADVANCED ignition timing, very good. By the way, i have a spare VQ Block Laying around if you want it.
