i just spent all day installing my headers... i'm ****!ng tired... let me try to get to all your questions

- fog lights came from wal-mart. fit perfectly into the little slot in teh bumper. no cutting is involved just slide them in and go

- the projectors are bixenon. came from ebay. one of the HID's was bad when i got it so now its one Hella HID (from audi a6) and one HID from a 2k3 maxima. the maxima one is a little more blue than the other but its all goood

-inside of the headlight looks black because i painted the projector and bezel black... the inside of teh headlights themselves arent painted. i LOVE the way they look

- the install... yeah... lots of fun

SO you actually ended up using just ONE 2k2 HID ballast and capsule on one side & and audi A6 HID setup on the other side Dude, 1st of all projectors only work well with d2s setup's. The OEM from a 2K2 is a d2r. Thats why the color is off.

The projectors I belive you when you said you got it off ebay, but you better not give me reason to belive were you got the single 2k2 hid from...

GHETTO in a sense...they look good nevertheless.

Why didn't you just wait to get two audi a6 projectors or 2k2 projectors instead of using one and the other?

i put the d2s bulb from the fubared audi set together with the 2k3 ballast... which BTW came from a "legitimate" source

they're BI_XENON projectors, meaning i've got both low & high beam. the 1st picture is the low beam, 2nd is the high beam. the picture taken in my garage is also one of the highbeams

007max,

The beam pattern is off is the reason why both Dan and I bring this up...if you don't believe me go to hidforums.com or search for my post with my projectors....to put it plainly your beam pattern SUCKS...

this is what your low beams SHOULD look like.

BTW, I know what Bi-xenon means...

What brand are those?

The last set of Valeo ECE's ive install here looked like this. I dont disagree about his beam pattern, I thought he aligned them wrong (the right one higher then the left) and it looked like a step pattern. Once the high beams were hit it eliminated that though, they are lined up even This why I suggested you to get Valeo's Igor

...back to the pics:

This is just a single one fired up:

Btw-These are PhxBlue's.

nupe500: One question, how the hell did you get your beam pattern so damn flat Every single set of projectors ive seen is like the above ^pic^ it has a step in the beam...should anyway
Now I can see the step in your beam, but it just looks a bit strange (not in a bad way)

Hmm that actually looks like is the end of the wall that is making the cut off not the actual projectors.
It seems as if that wall is only about 2 feet tall

The beam patterns you posted look great...and in fact I believe that is the way they should look with the exception of the mis-aligned left one in the pic above.

with respect to my beam pattern, I'm not quite sure how or why they came out the way they did. I mounted the projectors in the manor in which they should be. BTW they are E55 projectors....the step is there...sorta looks like my projectors need to be rotated counter-clockwise, but maybe you could help me with this question...why the step with these projector setups?

nah...thats the side of a building...the strip you see about the cut-off is painted, besides if your theory was correct you'd see the light above the "top of the wall"

no hard feelings man. sorry if i came off a little terse, just that i've been intalling headers these last 2 days and trust me it can ge to you

i have no idea how you got your beams so flat. no matter what i did (even holding the projectors in my hands) they came out just like the ones Hitman posted. the reason the high beams are fine but the right low beam is higher is quite involved... basically i bent the shutter when i was doing some r&d and it wont close all the way any more... no worries i didnt get them just to park across from a wall and stare at the cutoff all day

Yes I know and yes your correct, that is how they are supposed to look. As for the mis-aligned left one, I was well aware of that but that retro was done on a sunday night & those pics were taken around 11pm. Phxblue & myself were there from 6pm so we were pretty beat by the time we got them in and working right. 1st retro on a 5th gen so it was ALL R&D so we has a lot of fun with that one. They were infact aimed too damn high, at that time neither one of us could remember if we used the top or bottom step to aim (yeah we were at that point) and he ended up driving it home like this:

He aimed he the right way the next day so thats no longer an issue. You can see my beam on the left to give you an idea of how far off it was. We just wanted to call it a night since it was getting late. He said he was lighting up stop signs, & street signs the way home...heh

They do need to be turned a little counter-clockwise. Why the step in these (or most any) projectors? Well...its made that way in order no not temporarily
blind oncoming traffic. On your side of the road it puts out more light (where you need it the most) and it cuts down the beam were you dont need it (the left lanes. Kinda like this

Here is what the beam should look like when aligned perfectly:

Thats all great info John, and 007max, no offense taken!...speaking of HIDs ...the flash floods last night managed to find their way into my passenger headlight...thus shutting that one down...its all good this morning but now, that means I gotta reseal that light...mutherf**ka...more work...oh well...

Not a prob, I try to help every now & then

On that site (links above) they also have a list of the most commonly used tools & sealers, ect... so it might come in handy to most people that want to know anything about HIDs. Definetly bookmark worty

Reseal that thing mang, I always lean toward sealing it off more then need be. That way I can be 100% sure its not going to leak condensation into the headlamp (which looks really anoying). That happened to one of my fogs be4 (those have been retro'd to HID as well) and it pretty much drove me mad til I got it done.
