usually white is ok. ive never heard anyone getting a ticket for having white lights but i kno plenty of peeps getting tickets for blue lights. i would go ahead and do it. in fact, im planning on doing it, i just hate to spend $40 dollars for tiny hyper white bulbs.

Here in FL there are a lot of people with blue lights but they do get hassled a lot by the cops.

Having blue bulbs anywhere on your car always ask for trouble with the cops

Yep, either you get

Or you manage to be just plain lucky

Still, I think it would be cool to have dual lighting with a toggle switch to use either one at will.

The legality is not so much in the actual color of the bulb... well sorta.

See, DOT regulation is such that when you look at the car from the side, day or night, you have to be able to see orange/amber in the front, and red in the back. You also need reflects of the same color... just incase you are parked with no lights. My guess is this is so you can tell where the front of the car is.

So it's not really the light perse when you remove the reflector. Now blue is a no no in probably every single state.

I have the Hiper superplazma in the main and turn signal. The main are 135W (or 100W? it said both on the package) and the corners are 27W, same as stock. They are both blue coated bulbs.
I live in Chicago, and you see ALOT of them here. A couple weeks ago, I was right behind an IL state trooper for quite a while, and he didnt seem to care. And I have driven past other cops and didnt get pulled over. But I know they ARE illegal. Cops just dont seem to care.

Of course, neons were illegal, but not enforced. For a while. Now you dont see them anymore. So the same could happen with blue lights.

I kept the stock lights just in case...

lights

here in Chicago, the cops have more important thigns to worry about, like crazy-*** coke truck delivery drivers who stop on the expressway and threaten to kill themselves and hold up the Dan Ryan when in fact he had no weapons at all!

But when you get into those smaller suburbs, watch out, they are looking for those tickets $$$$$$$

If you really dig that clear look >>

Spend the money on obtaining the 1156/7 bulbs in Philips SilverVisions...they are hard to find in this country though. These bulbs look silver, but blink orange.
