power of the y-pipe

ok first off this has a little bit of racing in it so mods delete or move accordingly.
if anyone remembers i made a thread a couple months ago about racing my friends 99' short bed silverado with a 5.3. and exhaust. he beat me the first time when i was stock, barely (my front bumper was at his back bumper) well i finally talked him into racing me again saturday night because i put my y-pipe on and i told him i could take him this time (which he didn't believe). we bet a beer and we raced and it wasn't even close i beat him by 2 1/2 to 3 car lengths this time (thats what my friends said). i don't know how i beat him by so much. the only difference between this run and the first was he had his 20's off and his stock wheels on this time (which i thought would make him faster with them off, guess not) so if anyone is questioning whether or not to get a y-pipe definately get one, it helps out sooo much. THANK YOU Y-PIPE!!!!! finally showed him how slow his truck is.

it does make a difference. 20's have a lot more rotational inertia so its harder to get them to spin...however it makes it easier to keep moving once youre cruising

which means it'll hurt the braking performance...

Also depends on how much his stock tires weigh as well, and overall diameter.

The y pipe is the single most effective mod to a 4th gen imo.

you should have been able to beat him when you were stock.
