Paint Chips

My cars a year old and I got a good amount of paint chips and some os these chips are showing rust. Has anyone else had a problem with the Nissan paint? Does anyone know if there is any kind of a warranty on paint chips, like if it's so bad that they'll repaint your car? Let me know.

Thanks,

Steve

that sounds pretty bad. take it to the dealer if you have a warranty on it. your car is too new for that to happen.

I have the same problem with my Black SE. I tried going to the dealer for a resolution. They said there was nothing they could do. This is a very common problem.

Do you see rust on any of your chips? Because there should be some kind of warranty on the clear coat or something. Its Bologne. I have to say I love my car but I feel the paint is very very cheap.

thought i read rust is not covered where paint is chipped or something along those lines. Where are the chips? If they're from rocks/road debris, don't think they'll help at all. But if a defect in painting maybe.

You know when this board was down and we were directed to the other board I read a post about a class action suit being put together against Nissan USA for the paint quality on 02 & 03 Maximas.

Does anyone here know what the status of that suit is?

what forum? I would consider joining the suit. Not even 3 months/3200 miles and I have white specks all over the hood from paint missing.

If it's a problem with the factory paint delaminating, like on a lot of older white cars where it just flakes off, then it's the mfrs. problem. Just having a lot of stone chips is not covered under any warranty, but it's true the newer Maximas suck for this. I can say firsthand it's WAY too easy to chip this paint! I have more chips on the front of my '02 with only 20k miles than I had on an early 90s Accord SE pushing 200k!! That car had 100% all original paint and it had maybe 3 chips total - just awesome looking paint (medium silver color).
