Momo Shifter POS?? Check this out...

Man im getting sick of my momo shift ****. First of all, I was dump for dropping like $75 on it. But first, the clamp down screws they give you come off the shifter after a few weeks of hard shifts. I had to fabricate it, I found a washer that screws down onto my short throw shifter.. So i melted 2 of them on eachother and grinded off the edges.. Thus allowing it to fit in the shift **** device and screw down onto the shift ****.. However, today i was shifting (It's hot as hell outside) and the momo logo sticker comes off the top of it. Now this happend before, and i took it off cleaned it and used super glue.. But that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Stronger glue? Thanks for reading fellas..

i have a momo that a friend gave me. While i was in SC the squishy logo fell off. I got super glue from lowes and it worked fine. Just put a lot on and mash it down, should work.

Sean, if we pay good money for this crap why does it break? It doesn't have a right to break. Build it right! I hate when companies do this, Im stupid enough for spending that much money in the first place.

I would never buy a shift **** that wasn't screw down (vs. set screws). With our maxima's sharing the same thread pitch and diameter as a miata, there is a decent selection to choose from.

I have a Momo Sphere **** and I am also disappointed. I didnt have a problem with the screws, the right ones just need to be used. Mine came with two sets which were different length. My **** has a chrome top which faded and changed a yellowish color.

ya. I was really disappointed in the quality of momo for being such a huge name if aftermarket parts. The only reason i have on it bc 1. it was free and my stock one was torn to hell. After school i think i get a momo shifter pattern burnt into my hand. I just ill just save up intill i can afford a miata shifter. Mine doesnt even have plastic fitting thats go on the shifter, mine screws right into the shifter. Ohh well

I've been in the same situation as you guys have. I've messed with the screws to get it just right and after multiple hard shifts, it becomes loose again. But it doesn't happen too often. I went with the leather short anatomic(?) shiftknob so I dont have a problem with fading or stickers coming off...

lol... I bought a $10 APC ( ) universal-fit shift **** from Advance Auto Parts, used a little Loctite on the set screws (hell the tube of loctite I bought cost more than the shift ****), and it has worked perfectly for the past few months...

For $10, I got more than my money's worth. I really like it.

Same thing here...

I did not have a problem with the screws, but after about 8months, the MOMO sticker on the top fell off. I tried sticking it back twice, but fell off after a couple of days each time. Now the sticker is discolored and useless.

Heh.. tell me about it. I have a TV that just blew up on me last night. And of course, it's 2 weeks out of warranty. $750 for it and now I have to bend over and pay some kid who flunked out of Vo-Tech $100 an hour to fix it.

lol WOW! Yea the sticker is a POS.. and the fact that i had to fabricate a $70 dollar shift **** is messed up. Im going to call them or email them and chew them out for the sticker. Thats why the shifter looks so good.. without the sticker it looks like crap. If i spend this much money have a sticker that wont come off! or create a more stable logo! Jesus

I love my MOMO chrome/leather F16 ****. It has the momo logo stamped onto the top, no sticker .. which I assume will come out with time because its just stamped in; no stopping leather wear.

It uses set screws, and I too had a completely different problem from everyone else. (albeit probably my own fault)

Due to cleaning, removal and installation of my B&M STS I had to take it off quite a few times in a short period of time; and the last time I was putting it on to be all done with everything the bottom threaded hole stripped. Not the set screw, but the thread on the **** itself! I was a bit PO'd!

My solution was to take one of the rubber boots and put it onto the shift lever, and secured it with some epoxy wrapped tightly with some industrial quality rubber tape (its like electrical tape but 100x better... get it from my fathers engraving company). Did this until I made the shaft pretty much turn a solid piece that was the exact size of the hole in the shifter (the problem with 2 set screws is that they couldnt penetrate the rubber boot enough for a solid fit.)

So in doing this I had to nudge the **** on with a sledge hammer (I can still get it off) and then put in the shorter two set screws tightened just enough so that they were flush. Sits tighter then any **** I've ever shifted, even stock *****.

Sure, it's a hack job. But as long as my shifter never breaks (knock on wood.. B&M to the max!) I don't need to worry about it

F MOMO

I will never buy any product from them again. They have jerked me around for about a month or so and have not replied to my emails for the past two weeks. If you go to walmart in the auto section with the paint chip cover stuff there will be "3M plastic emblem & trim adhesive" thats your best bet. This one is for you MOMO.

I love my MOMO sphere leather. With a cut stock shifter it looks 100x better. For the screws you'd just have to adjust it and screw it on evenly tightly. Be careful not to brand yourself in the summer though.

How long have you had that ****? I have the same one and after 8 months some of the chrome on the top turned yellowish.

I like my MOMO ****. There isn't a sticker on it so I don't kno how much of a problem that would have given me.

I'm glad I spent the $$ for it... a mod that I'm always feeling up on. good stuff.

looks good in black/black max

i had it for around 4-5 months did you try using alcohol to wash it? silver or chrome will tarnish over time but you can buff it back to its original luster
