I just painted mine. Its now solid black with NISSAN in metallic silver. Eventually I plan to get the whole engine bay in the same colours
Im not sure if you could get the plug cover powdercoated, its plastic. But anything metal bits are doable

ok let's get something straight here...
the valve cover COVER (over the coils) is what he's referring to. no u CAN NOT powdercoat that because it's made out of plastic and it will never withstand the temps of pc oven.
if you want to get PC done...

mention you're from the org.
also for alum valve covers...
**Aluminum parts are very pourous and because of this some tiny bubles may occur from escaping gases. We can not guarentee that there will be none, but we do our best to limit this to a minimum.

Heres an old engine pic.
You can kind see the different colored letters.
I just taped of what I did not want painted, and sprayed.
I painted the white first and then taped it all off and then came back with the red.

Depends on teh quality of the job.. YOu can do it yourself with spray paint and tape off the lettering... ex you can spray paint the letters silver and not tape anything off and make a mess. Then when it dries tape the letters off and paint the rest of the cover itself lets say blue so once you take the tape off you'll have a blue cover with silver letters. Ghetto but it works.

wow. i like both of those. Max10to1, how did you get the black inbetween the letters? Did you paint the letters by hand?
Nismo, how did you get rid of the letters? that looks very smooth and slick. I would like to do that.
What kind of paints did you guys use? Should i put a clear coat over top of it?

yea my struts are blown so I made my own aluminum hood prop thats attached to the FSTB so It can fold down when I close the hood and comes up when I need it.
I had to grind off the letters a little then filled it with bondo, lots of sanding and once its smooth just paint it. for Silver I used crinkle coat paint which gives it a cool crackle finnish. I believe the paint is called "hammered finnish" which simulates steel that has been peened. The gunmetal paint is just duplicolor 500 deg. engine enamel but for some reason it seems to not hold up to the heat well, it gets soft

I taped off the black stripe (including the small letters) so thats the stock black and silver. I had to mask the NISSAN letters individually, cutting the tape with a razor blade. This kept the letters silver. I sanded the rest using 220 grit sand paper then primed it with rustoleum dark grey primer. I painted the whole thing with Rustoleum Gloss black, no clear coat. YOu can clear it if you want, it cant hurt and it will add some extra protection.
