I like how you color matched the valve cover and MEVI cover with the body paint.. IMO the ONLY real beef I have with that is to clean up some of the wires near the filter

I'll get to the wiring soon bro. I just wanted to get everything running before I did that.

I'm auto until I get my 93 RX-7TT. Longer gearing in the autos makes it worth it. I really would like my ECU to see how the overall midrange will improve though.

Soul Fly: I've never dynoed so I really can't say. I have a Y, straight through muffler, high output alternator (210 amp) and MonsterFlow Filter (which I want to get rid of for another Apexi dry). My car was pretty fast without these mods so I want to hit the track to see what my baby can do.

gtr: I thought about it heavily and I thought about taking it to see Jay for the whole swap. My car would be nasty with a 5 speed.

Looks good!

That monsterflow coupled with a stock resonator must be really quiet. I couldn't hear my switchover with that filter on.

newbie question: what exactly does the VI do? how much do they go for?, and do they have them for a 2000?

thanx

Your stock manifold is variable already.

The VI changes the powerband for more power up in the high RPM ranges. Now my car won't die at 5000 RPM.

damn, nice!

So with the MEVI, an auto would get more benefit from it than a 5-spd?

Yes because of the gearing. Still need the ECU to fix the midrange though. Keep that in mind guys.

Stock VI sounds cool in 1st gear on my 2000 SE 5-speed
Makes a snarl sound with the stock intake... (I'd try it with my newly-installed Place Racing CAI, but my exhaust leak would drown out the intake noise)

Looks great Deezo! I love the paint matched covers... very classy (and they look well painted). Since you had an Apexi before, do you have any suggestions for cleaning it?
Thanks,
-Cyrus

looks good, it's hard to keep the engine bay looking clean with all the extra wires and hoses needed for the VI.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Vyrus: I think the only way to clean it is to bang out the crap as good as you can. My Apexi is sitting in the closet stuffed with dirt.

Mike: That's very true but I'll try to make it look neat for Luke.
