Full titanium catback system

http://www.paradox-systems.com/forum...topic.php?t=71

I am contemplating producing a full titanium catback system for both 4th and 5th gen Maxima's (and I30's) but wanted to get an idea from Org members to see if it is worth pursuing. I'm in talks with a manufacturer and only thing that needs to be finalized is pricing. I've always tried to get the cheapest prices possible so expect pricing to be extremely competitive with similar systems.

Please check the link above and voice your opinion.

Thank you.

what are the specs on these catback? 2.25" or 2.5" inlet? 4.0 or 4.5" tip?

personally i may consider getting a new catback cuz my custom catback is sorta falling apart....

If your going to do anything exhaust wise I think it should be a 5th Gen Axel Back. I don't care for the look of the HKS or GReddy. Something around $200-$250 direct bolt on...maybe an have it offset like the Skyline/Silvia style exhaust.

i am definately interested in this, and agree that a 3" cat-back verison be avaiable for boosted guys, do an NA and Turbo exhaust verisons, i haven't seen any specific Titanium catback exhaust systems for maximas and this seems like a good step towards a better exhaust for us maximas.

price will be the second most important thing in this situation, and weight wont be first. I really think sound is what will drive everyone to this. If this sounds really good, even better or more quiet than the greddy or whatever high quality catbacks are out there, as long as its in the same price range, i think it will sell well. I'm actually happy to see another option for a catback. I think thats what this community needs more than anything, especially if we can get quality/less restricitons of a greddy at a much better price.

I am also VERY interested. But the MOST important thing for me is not weight, sound, or style - it is proper FITMENT. Almost all of our current catback systems have fitment problems. If you make one that fits a '96 properly, you can consider me a customer.

I'm still waiting on final pricing, will post up as soon as I have it.
I will be working on a 2.5" system, not sure on tip size yet. A 3" version will definitely be a possibility as well.

I will see about getting a 2.5" system for myself ('98) initially to be able to confirm fitment for everyone. I may also try to test fit a 5th gen version.

I would offer my car to test fit the 3" system but my rear section is modified to fit the Pure styling rear bumper.

as long as it fits good and is a decent price i will buy it. but sound is also a deciding factor for some, because even me a little wants a sweet sounding exhaust setup. but work you magic max mojo jo and hook us up with a light weight killer exhaust for the maximas to scare the §hit out of those little honda's.

Have you guys seen the new line of Ti catbacks from Magnaflow? Apparently the quality of them is very good, and waaaaay cheaper than the Japanese brands. No application for us of course, but I'm thinking Paradox's prices would be cheaper than those.

I think you'd do well producing a 3" Ti exhaust... anyone who needs it would be boosted, so they can't be that cheap.

I will be looking into a 3inch exhaust once I get this SC on. :>

Sound will be very important. Not too loud. I like my Greddys sound.

Any ballpark idea on how much weight reduction this would be?

At a little over $2,000 these Axis wheels are still less than half the SSRs. So of course they GT3s are nicer...but are the good for daily driving no. Its simply not smart to drive around on those wheels every day in PA its that simple. Your not the only one that dislikes the Axis wheels but hey...6 months from chances are I'll be on my 4th set of wheels so its no big deal. BTW bump for pricing.

Waste of time

Titanium costs about $100 a lb, you'll need to CAD up the design, work on prototypes, QA a bunch of them, forget about importing them.

If you don't have control over the factory thats making your stuff, they'll just replace your $100lb titanium with other cheaper metal.

After all that, you'd have to sell these catbacks for $1000+ just to make enough money to cover all your expenses.

Just for example, a Ti exhaust system for a Corvette costs about $1900.

I will have control over the factory that is making them including the materials. Also as for prototyping, they will do so first on a Cefiro, which should be the same (I have a Cefiro axleback and it fit perfectly). I will them get one set here to fit in the US before confirming anything. This is not something I see making me a lot of money, that is not the point. I just want to have a Ti cat back option for all of us. I'm willing to take a slight risk and produce this, just wanted to get an idea of whether or not there was interest in the before wasting my time / money.

The factory is taking their time getting back to me w/ pricing and more details. I will post up as soon as I have them.

Well personally I thank you for putting the effort out. If this exhaust is reasonably priced for it's quality (competitive with cattman) I'm sure people will jump on it.

Always interested in weight reduction. An axel back would also be a nice option.
