Custom Catback Info..

Hey guys,
Im trying to budget my spending. Im in dying need of a y pipe and exhaust work. I dont want to go spending 500$ on a Greddy. I have a ****ty job and high insurance which doesnt make me mod happy. Ive been saving up for a y pipe but i want to get the exhaust work done while im at it. Im just wondering if any of you have a custom exhaust done. If so, what mind of muffler are you runnin, just give me info about your set up. If you have sound clips or videos i would love to hear them. Im not so sure oh what type of muffler i want. I want something deep, throaty but not so loud. I dont want it droning or sounding like bees in a can. I know im being picky but its my car and i dont want to sound like my friends civic. Im pretty sure im going to need a resonator for this. Maxtank said he doesnt have a resonator on his and its just to loud. So just give me some help guys.

Ok, to answer one part. Ravin, Magnaflow, and Remus all have a low tones.

I'm currently running a Ravin muffler, with custom 2.5" piping from the cat. I don't have a y-pipe yet. The muffler ran about $180... I think. But the exhaust piping was only about $90. Pressure bend, not mandrel. And that's 2.5" all the way, so my resonator was takin out. But my exhaust isn't that loud

As for the tone I get, go to the Ravin site. www.goravin.com and click on sounds. The closest sounding to mine is the chevy blazer.

For driving, there's a good rich tone up till 2 grand then begins to rumble a bit (not bees in can) till a little over 2.5 grand. Then begins to slowly drown out, about 3.2 grand, you don't really hear it anymore because of the engine. Great for highway use, no annoying drone that will drive you crazy. At 55 you can hear it drone, but it's low enough not to cause a headache.

I do have a vid clip of the exhaust, but it might be too big to email.

Exhaust setup:
Apexi N1 muffler (NA 90mm tip) black $241
custom 2.5 " catback mandrel bent $175

at first my setup was louder then ****, but i got pulled over and had to put a $35 dollar resonator in it. after that it sounds really deep still and loud, don't worry about sound like a civic, because its really hard to mess up the sound of a maxima. if you want deep, i would say go with a magna flow muffler that is 2.5" all the way through matched up with a 2.5" catback. that plus a y-pipe will give you a great deep sounding maxima and a little extra ummph. You will love your maxima even more when you do your exhaust work, when your at a stop light, and it changes green and you take off, ah that sound of "do you really want to f u c k with my v6?" its an amazing sound that i still love everytime i drive after 4 years. good luck and post some pics and sound clips when you do your setup man.

Ok, I sent it, it's a vid file, and uses quicktime to run. I believe just about any video player will run it though. If there's a problem, i'll trying sending it as a compressed file.
