Could my luck get any better?Question regarding car security

My maxima is in the shop to get new kyb's in the front, along with new control arms, spinlde's, hub's, and st front sway bar. I got a call from my mechanic tellin me that someone had broken into my maxima, broke my window and stole my stereo. I took my face off of it too and they still took it. Luckily i had to remove my subs and my amps cuz those would of prolly been taken too. So now i need a new window and well i needed a new head unit anyways. My kenwood was starting to become out dated anyways. But my question is in regards to car security. What are some of the best you can get. I was lookin on ebay and saw some viper alarms for 130 plus shipping are these any good. I had my window broken earlier in the summer i know that's gonna cost close to 100. But i just moved to north Dallas and over here it is pretty bad, and i already attract enough attention with my lowered maxima and nice throaty exhaust. I would be so ****ing ****ed if someone stole my car so i want to invest in a car alarm. Any suggestions please something that'll definately prevent someone from stealing my maxima. Now all i have to worry bout is gettin car jacked... oh well i'll take my chances with that one.

all these "our shop got broken into and they stole ur xxxxx" is BS

the shop steals it themselves. press charges !

u gave them the keys, they were responsible for what happend to ur car, they have to cover it.

Whether the shop did the stealing I doubt you'll ever know for certain. But while it's in their care, it's their responsibility. I don't think I've heard of a shop leaving a car outside on the street overnight when there's major repairs going on the suspension components of the ride, unless all the work was done & no one picked up the car until the following morning.

don't most shops have signs that say if you drop off your vehicle over night or after they're closed, they're not responsible for your property until they open up...or something? i don't know the legality of it all, but i've seen signs like that before.

sorry to hear that man, that sucks.

won't insurance cover your window for free?

i know the owner of the shop personally. And he does have a sign stating that he is not responsible for any thefts, accident's of nature, etc... The shop has well lately had little punks comin over and breakin into cars. His nephew had his car there in the back and someone jumped the fence and tried to steal the whole exhaust off of his car. They failed but took his stereo intstead. If the car is inside in the bay then it is ok, and my car was in there for close to three weeks, because i couldn't find this one part for my car. So he had to take it out in the back which is fenced in by the way over night to make room for other cars that he is workin on. Now he is fixing up my car right now cuz he has to get it out. I know it's the part of the city that he is in. But I offered to give him one of my pit bull pups to guard the back but his wife doesn't like that idea. Im all for it because that'll stop those punks with the quickness. Im gonna talk to him later on more than likely he'll work something out on paying him. He'll prolly take off a hundred or so on the labor. He's a nice guy so i know i can work out something. And nope i dont' have insurance right now sucks i need to get some soon though. But no one has any suggestions on car alarms?

Well, first of all sorry about the break-in. I know those suck from firsthand experience. Now, I personally install DEI and Crimestopper alarms/remote starts, and can recommend either one.
Keep in mind, if you don't get a DEI-authorized shop/installer to put it in, any warranties are void. Crimestopper is not as stringent as DEI is, as far as warranty is concerned. I, personally, have a Crimestopper 2-Way remote start/alarm, and have not had ANY issues to date (knock on wood). I've also had just about all the DEI alarm systems in various cars I've owned, too.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, either one is fine - it's just a matter of price and what you want to spend, from that point.
